Title: Time/Candlemarks
Post by: PastMember on April 21, 2003, 12:27:47 PM
When I read the books, I didn't pay overly much attention to the issue of telling time.  Reading the posts I'm seeing that the candlemark is the designation.  Is a candlemark roughly an hour?:puzzled:

Depends on the size of the candle :rofl::rofl:

OK, enough of that silliness.  Yes, for our purposes, one candlemark is one hour.

:tumble:'the size of the candle'  HA!  I just crack myself up:tumble:

Side note:

Clocks do exist in our timeline, but are expensive.
Larger pocketwatches might be for the wealthy (and very rare).  Rarer than clocks.

No wristwatches.

But since the majority of Pern still uses candles to mark time (or the sun), candlemarks are the standard time reference.
