A wild newbie appeared! Hi, I am Lauw, and I have just joined your lovely little corner of the internet, know as Triad Weyrs. I am a big Pern fan, and use to do the PBEM thing about 10 years ago, and decided I wanted to get back in the game now that I have more free time. Hi Lauw, I'm Leigh, the resident Coloradoan internet junkie/night owl. (How late do I stay up? People in England and Australia have found me on a regular basis. XD)
I can be found on Skype and AIM virtually every night around eight pm Mountain time if you'd like to chat. (Alas, my Y!IM account no longer works.) I play bronze weyrlings Zeiranth and A'kua (who's undergoing an emotional crisis at the moment) at Dragonsfall Weyr, there's a bluerider in the works for Dolphin Cove Weyr, and I also have apprentice healer Lokkun at River Bluff Weyr, but I'm not certain of his fate at the moment. :-(

I am online pretty much all day, from around 8am-11pm Atlantic time, which is approx 3 hours ahead of Mountain time if I remember right. Less so on Tuesdays and Thursdays where my work is outside rather then indoors in the mornings. I don't have AOL like a lot of users, i use Yahoo/Trillian, and might make an AOL account if it seems more efficient for talking to other players.
I look forward to interacting with you all, everyone's being so nice offering to post with me...or threatening to, in some cases I think :P
Several of use also chat regularly in google chat. Love to see you there if you have an account.

It's called Google Hangouts. In the web browser when you log in to gmail on a computer it's in the sidebar. If you're on an iphone or ipad you can download the free Google Hangouts app :)

Cibryen Weyr, and another one that's name escapes me its been so long. Those ones were around 2002-2005ish if I have the dates remembered right. I was very briefly in Fireheart Weyr around 2005 or 2006, before college forced me out of the PBEM thing. All of them are closed now, like many of the PBEM weyr's from back then. It takes a good community to keep one running as long as Triad or sites like Arolos.

I was a n00b at Cibryen; it was my first Weyr. Small internet world.
Arolos is still around? I was there once, for maybe two days. I preferred Dark Fort, although the round robin format became annoying once I got used to full post, although it's nice to know what's going on as it happens. Anyway- I get a kick out of the darker plots.
Dark Fort is Arolos now, they merged awhile ago, one of the reasons Arolos claims to be the biggest Weyr out there I guess. Well, on Yahoo!groups at least. Its a pretty messy system though, compared to Triad. You are more organized and much more friendly, no chance of being lost in the deluge. I prefer a more community togetherness in my community.

I am actually the owner of what was FireHeart Weyr :) We actually just closed down earlier this year. Small world!
I remember the days when it was easy to be in about 6 groups (and I was!). Now there's only a handful left. Or if there are others I haven't found them, apart from the odd message board rp.

I have added you to my messengers. And I did reply to your reply to my email. :) Look forward to posting with you definitely. Triad was my first Weyr. I was a member of Arolos/DF though which is how I met Mirren and a few others. Basically the people running DF decided they didn't want to do it anymore and Arolos' people didn't want to run a separate club anymore either, so the decision was made to just close down Darkfort and give its members the chance to bring those characters into their club. Some did, some didn't.
But yeah Triad is a very old club that has gone through its share of incarnations (I know Emma/Paula/etc remember DE too). But we're still here. And we love plotting and writing and our group may be smaller now but it hasn't always been and may not always be. :) We just like it when good people find us!
So anyway, poke me back and we'll do some things. o.O
