At some point, he'll be advised on how to let go of his issues, so he'll need a dragonrider to not ask too many questions and take him someplace isolated and quiet so he can finally say everything he wanted to say to his mother, but never did, and unleash some emotions that have been kept under wraps too long. Volunteering E'naer, That would be part of his job. Although Aileyan knows a lot about mother-issues too. Since hers was...well, crazy. Not to mention mentally abusive.
