Title: New Year's Weather
Post by: Avery on January 03, 2014, 09:54:12 AM
The Northeast of the US has been undergoing a pretty heavy winter storm - my city is covered with a foot of snow, the buses are late, and the temperature is below 0F. And I hear lots of flights and other types of public transit have been cancelled in this area. A nice storm is a great way to ring in the new year for all the travellers, huh?

What weather is everyone else dealing with?

Stay safe and warm over there in the east, Avery! I'm not in the Atlantic half of the continent, but...

It's currently -13C (9F) with light snow going down to -26C (-15F) overnight, with -21C (-6F) projected for Saturday and -27C (-17C) projected for Sunday. (not including windchill) I was going to go to the cabin this weekend but I don't think the car will start if I don't plug it in. And the highway is icy. :(

THE NORTH REMEMBERS.

(...I kind of hate you, Suzee)

We are having very british weather right now...rain, fog and dark... I haven't seen sun in weeks. Temperature is right now +3 C and that's warm! Where's winter?
During the holidays, some one dumped our snow into Egypt and Israel....

That is very similar to here Paula, it's unseasonably warm (today's high will be 8c, should be closer to freezing), and very wet, I think they are predicting another 20-30mm of rain today - and my brother said it snowed in Tel Aviv....

Just heard tonight that it's colder right now in Chicago than the South Pole. They've told people not to even drive unless it is absolutely necessary.

We've had gales after gales after gales since school let out for Christmas. The only thing I can say is I'm very thankful it waited until school had let out for the winter break. And as my family lives on the west side of a mountain, we've had like 70 to 90 mph winds up here, it's been nuts. It even blew over a heavy garden arbor and seat in our backyard! Luckily, the greenhouse has stayed intact.

Wow Len, I'm glad your greenhouse is OK!
