Title: sometimes life truly sucks
Post by: Jelena on October 23, 2013, 01:12:37 PM
So my love was diagnosed with a rare and serious autoimmune disease (wegeners disease) and is now awaiting a chemo treatment. He is facing a long and tough recovery and of course I will be there every step of the way. I just needed to share I guess. *snuggles into everyone at random* Posting will be slow to non existent. Living the hospital life.

I know that feeling! I have a subglottic Stenosis and they tested me for the very same condition though it turned out I didn't it. Yet still I have the stenosis just below my vocal chords which makes it quite hard to breathe at times. I've had multiple surgeries to open my airway and it comes back.... so I have surgery again.

Other than limitations on my physical activity because of the limited airway, (I can walk just fine, just not run up a set of stairs.) I live a fairly normal life.

I hope the treatment goes well for you!!

Hugs

*hugs* I can't even imagine how you -- and your husband -- must feel. That's awful. I hope that things go well, and easily. That DOES suck. :(

A quick update, because right now the only thing I can do from going crazy is talking about it. Things were starting to look better at the start of this week, but last night he was transferred to the Intensive Care because of complications in his lungs. He has been put in a coma and is being monitored closely. Life decided to suck some more. If you believe in some kind of deity whatsoever, send up a prayer for him. We can use it.

Thanks guys. We heard yesterday he will probably be in the IC for a few weeks, possibly months. It will be a few days before they can assess if the new treatment is working. So for now there is not much to be said or done. Hopefully it won't be long before he's strong enough to be woken up again, all I want right now is talk to my best buddy about everything that is going on.. Beh...

I did my replies today and may be either really quick replying the coming time, or really slow. It's a good diversion, but I'm not always in the mood. I'm just going see how it all goes one day at a time.

Hello guys, I'm back-ish :) The day after my last post, the doctors told us there was a good chance he would not make it. Life got really tough after that, but my sweetheart fought like crazy and beat off the worst of the illness. His lungs miraculously recovered almost entirely. His kidneys are back to 25% fuction, which isn't something to be esctatic about, but the docs are optimistic he will recover more. We are now waiting for the latest treatment to start working and lucky for all of us he was allowed to do the waiting back home! He's been back home with me since thursday evening and it's bliss. At the moment I'm still busy with care-taking, but I expect time will start freeing up bit by bit as he starts to do more for himself. Hopefully I can start posting again soon. Just thought I´d share the good news!

You've both been in my prayers and I hope the upward trend continues to full recovery. That is just such wonderful news and I'm so happy to hear your honey is back home recovering. This is a VERY good thing.
