I am pleased to announce the following. Arolos Weyr has made an approach to us, and we at Triad have decided to join them. I hope you'l read the following and understand why we made our decision. This will lead for exciting times and new plots for us.

on an equitable playing field. Your BoD will be acting as a liaison to
us, communicating your needs to us and discussing them with us, and
delivering our responses so you don't have to worry about approaching
faceless strangers. Soon, I'm sure we'll all be well known to each
other. With that in mind, feel free to drop by our new forum which has
been set up so all members can easily communicate with each other and
hopefully plan cross plots and so on.

Those of you with a passing acquaintance with classic comics will
recognise this story arc and will be nodding and going 'aha!' as we
speak. There are other difference, so I will describe the scenario so
you have all the back ground we need to integrate other weyrs into
the Arolos Eighth Pass Timeline.
The Timing it capability of dragons intersecting with the quantum
properties of 'between' have been having damaging effects on time,
space and effectively thinning the walls between alternate universe
Perns. In the end it is one last trip through time that causes the
Rift that breaches the walls between all Perns and reality begins to
collapse in on itself, unstoppable and inexorable. The cascade of
reality finds a singularity point in the Eight Pass as this is the
point where the most frequent occurrences of timing it occurred
through the massed betweening to the Ninth Pass.
Ironically, one of the most stable Eighth Pass timelines due to a
limited knowledge of Timing was the one containing Arolos Weyr, and it
was here that the fractures through other realities came to rest. They
struck through weyrs for that was where the dragons were, the
embodiment of the needles piercing through the fabric of time, space
and reality, and swallowed them whole.
The time anomaly dropped them geographically where they were on Pern
before in the Arolos timeline and THEY HAD ALWAYS BEEN THERE. Time had
folded in on itself and worlds might exist in minds that had stayed
true to relativity and remained unchanged but the stone and rock of
the Newcomer weyrs had somehow just arrived and yet been there for
eons. It was all very quantum.
In those places where Weyrs shared geographical positions they became
a peculiar merge of the two places. We believe the battles for
dominance in those zones will make for good RP opportunities.
That is the basic premise. All affiliate clubs will be requested to
integrate themselves into our
timeline using this Major Plot. We will provide a Start post shortly
for you to play your reactions to and then it will be a case of mergin
into our timeline. It will be the perfect opportunity to cull any
unwanted characters and you can effectively bring only those
characters you are comfortable with playing and give them reason for
angst and trauma.
Brace yourselves everyone!

Ok, so, if it's not a joke... and I'm still a bit leery cause I've been gotten by some pretty elaborate jokes...
How the heck is it going to work? I mean, I get the whole 'event' idea of how they merge, but how does it affect our stuff? We still post to our list? Or theirs? Will our rules change? Our storylines? We're in the tenth pass and we have electricity! How does that work with them being in the eighth pass??? I'm confused. LOL
Course... I'm still kinda thinking this must be a trick, just a 'Blair Witch' level trick. With supporting websites and so on... Which, really, is pretty darn cool. LOL
eta: Looking around the site, I'm even more convinced it must be a trick! Just a really awesomely planned and executed trick (the little video was pretty cool!). But, come on? A flag? LOL

For further explanation, I would like to offer this:
As Noola especially knows, I get so busy sometimes that I don't leave myself any time to copost. And coposting is what Triad is all ABOUT. Letting Arolos takeover alot of the day to day admin will be a huge relief for me and the rest of the Council members. We have all been on the Council doing the admin work for 6 years or more but we all started out as writers at some point. it will be so AWESOME to get back to just writing (for the most part).
Also, we have had some WONDERFUL new members lately! ::gives much newbie love::: And we on the Council want to provide our new members the best possible Pern writing experience you can have. We think this will help with that, plus gain you lots of fun new writing partners :)
In addition, you will shortly see a ballot in your inboxes asking you if you will support our decision to become part of the Arolos Protectorate. Also, our website is undergoing a bit of a change as we speak.

I, for one, am VERY excited about this entire change!
Ok... And I'm still holding onto the idea that this is some amazingly elaborate joke and tomorrow you all are gonna be dancing around chanting "Sucka!" at me... but before I vote in a ballot, I want to know a few things:
1. How will this affect our unique canon? Our female crafting bans, our technology levels, etc. What about our rules on who Impresses what (which are different, I believe)?
2. We're in the 10th Pass, not the 8th, for one thing, so, we'd be going back in time - not slipping sideways into a parallel universe or whatever through a quantum rift created by too much timing. How's that going to be explained?
3. Will we still be using our roleplay lists? Will our stories still be uploaded on our site? What about theirs?
4. WHAT ABOUT THE REWARD POINTS?????
I have others, I'm sure, and the answers to these will generate more, but these are the ones I need to know to decide if I like the idea (which is still probably a joke - just a seriously elaborate one that you all are awesomely dedicated to) or not.
Here is the way I see it Noola :)
Triad's canon and basic principles will remain relatively stable. By "integration" it is our understanding (and Emma can correct me if i am wrong, she knows their BOD better than I do) that the "background" of our story will change somewhat - different time, different "reality". But at our Dragonsfall Weyr, River Bluff Weyr, and Dolphin Cove Weyr, our colors of IMpression will not change, our basic canon will not change. Female craft bans etc...
But there will be "other" places in the same "club" that you CAN explore wild and wacky stuff that we just don't have here (and we're happy that way thank you! ).
It will make for lots of paradoxes, but also lots of DRAMA as different beliefs battle different beliefs within the Weyrs and Holds.
As far as Reward points (HAHAHA)!, I know of NO plan to stop those :)
And our places won't lose their fancy geo-electric lights and stuff? Cause I was thinking it might be fun to make a Technician at some point in the near future! LOL
eta: Oh, and what about our site and rp list? Cause, don't they do round-robin? I don't like round robin posting or posting unfinished things where everyone can read it.
There should be a fourth choice on the survey: "As long as everything basically stays the same, only there's more people to write with, I'm ok with the idea though I still believe it to be an elaborate hoax." With that in mind, I'm choosing the most ambivalent answer on the survey, which is the closest to how I fell. LOL

I do not know anything about a "resistance", however, I am so NOT thrilled about this. If this isn't some April Fools Joke, I have to say that there is only about a 2% (two percent) chance I will stay. I LIKE Triad... I LIKE my coposters... I LIKE my personas. I want to stay and grow to LOVE those things that, as a really, really new member, I LIKE about Triad. I looked around for a long time before selecting Triad as the place I wanted to be. For now, even though I have been in other clubs in the past, Triad is my only _active_ club in Pern Fandom. I want to assure you, I will not cause trouble over this... so please do not worry about my doing so. I do however, feel that I need to express my feelings about this. If this is not a joke and I do leave, I will do so quietly and without fuss in regards to my persona, and I will make sure to give them a proper exit. I do not believe that any one club in Pern fandom should have "control over Pern Fandom" except for in their own world or timeline. I know that if this is not a joke, then nothing I say will have an impact, but at least I can be assured I was heard. Thank you for allowing me to say a little in protest. And thank you for taking the time to read what I've said. I appreciate you giving me a minute or so of your time. And thank you to everyone who has made my so far, short stay warm and welcome.

Hey! Maybe I want to change my vote from the ambivalent 'meh, I don't care' I voted to the emphatic 'No!' now! If this is real (and, really, there's a big part of me that just knows someone is pointing and laughing at me for entertaining the possibility of it being real) and Dawn leaves, that completely messes up my Sallita storyline! I'll have to find another healer! Boo on that!
AND still no one has said that we won't be switching to awful round robin posting.

We are always glad to hear our members true thoughts, Dawn, and I am so glad you chose Triad as your home online :) We really are trying to make the experience even BETTER than it is so you will LOVE it here.
And Noola, I'm quite hopeful that we won't have to go to Round Robin posting (I remember doing that when I was in Arolos) but we have not quite determined that yet.

If this is not an April falls trick, and I'm hoping It was. I am... Disapointed... to find the decision has been made and we're just being told it's happening whether we like it or not. I stand firmly by the belief that asking, discussing and then deciding is the way forward. I get enough dictating to at work and I - like dawn - chose to join triad, and I personally choose not to join Arolos.

We (the Council) were approached by Arlos with this idea of merging the Weyrs weeks ago, but we ALL agreed that we would not go ahead with this plan until we had made an UNANIMOUS decision to do so! If I hadn't tried to log into the site and the forums and hadn't found that my passwords had been changed, WITHTOUT MY PERMISSION, I might add, I could post to the list the entire discussion. But unfortunately, it seems I no longer have full access to the forum, and I can't seem to find my member sheet on the site. Had I not decided to jump on my friend's computer today to check my messages, I would not have known ANY of this was going on. No unanimous decision was EVER made to go ahead with this plan, and it WILL NOT go forward. Remember, it is MY NAME that is on the credit card that has paid for this site, and I refuse to let Triad be merged with ANY other Weyr. I don't care how big or important they THINK they are!
Looking on other websites, I have noticed that Triad is not the only Pern fandom site that has been usurped by Arlos, nor am I the only person who finds this whole situation objectionable. I'm also not so sure that I was the only person to be caught off guard by these dirty, underhanded tricks. I found the "resistance movement " Emma alluded to on this site:

Do not believe for a moment that Triad will be sucked into this mess. Triad is worth saving. Where in Pern fandom are you going to find the diversity of locations, and so many good writers, all collected in one spot? Where are you going to find the potential for unique storylines, like the female craftban, the rift between the north and south, the tensions between the Hold and Weyr... We cannot, and will not, see Triad become part of a homogeneous collective!

APRIL FOOL!!!
I need to thank my co-conspirators here, Eimi and Clancey for all their hard work in preparing it, and the BoD Members of the other Weyrs that were involved, in particular Laura and Vicky from Arolos for having the evil ideas in the first place.
The one thing I do have to say is that nothing is happening to Triad, our little corner of Pern will carry on as it has for what I hope is a long, long time to come.
Thank you once again for taking part, you were all awesome, and we love you guys :)

as an arolosian..there have been many jokes over the years. last year the AIs took over both arolos and darkfort. one year they had different colored mutant dragons with special powers. one year it was the MY little Ponies of Pern..so many things.
basically we expect it at this point. :)
