...or can you call it a nephew when your husband's sister has a baby?
Anyway, my kids have new cousin. My son was bit disappointed because it was boy too. He has no girl-cousins. (I don't know why he wants one. Children can be mystical.)
Tell me, our UK-members, what are the traditions concerning christening/baptism in Anglican church?
Do they resemble lutheric ones at all? I know the two churches accept each other's weddings at least.
All I know is that Anglicans are paedobaptists.
Congratulations! And yes, he's your nephew. :)
Congratulations!
No good asking me - despite having gone to a Church of England school, I was excused Religious Education due to being Jewish... I've only ever been to one baptism, and that was of an adult and I'm pretty sure that wasn't Church of England becasue I think they usually christen babies.
And yes, the new baby is your nephew. Are these the family who live down in Somerset?
I was baptised as a baby in the Anglican church - 'Christening' is as far as I'm aware equivalent to infant baptism, although it's possible other people use it to mean other things. The services that some places do which are like infant baptism but contain no actual baptism are generally called 'dedication' services.
I know Baptists tend to do the baby dedication thing. Presbys do the infant baptism.
Kurt and I are odd. We're credo baptist Presbys. :)
Congratulations!
Yep, they live somewhere around there (Sommerset) They recently moved and I don't remember the new adress.
My nephew has a name now... poor thing. Why is it you have to give your child an usual name? What's wrong with ordinary John's, Jack's, Mary's and Emma's?
I've been wondering what was wrong with Emma for years... :thumbright:
Oi! I'm perfectly sane (most of the time)
What's his name?
Oh, yes. *slaps head* Of course, sorry. It's Kosmo Kondrad Valentin.
That sounds like a Russian name! Well, East European certainly.
I'm still waiting to hear of the name of my first grandniece. My niece and her husband have announced that their new addition will be a girl, but are making all of us wait until the actual birth (about 2 weeks) before telling us what name they have selected.
