Title: Our weekend
Post by: Amanda N on November 07, 2008, 09:29:08 PM
So tomorrow we'll be working on the house in an attempt to get it clean.  It won't happen in a day, but hopefully we'll make good progress. of course, Kurt has to do some stuff in the front yard too.  Blech.

I have a baby shower to attend tomorrow...oh yeah, gotta was that quilt I made for her. *G*

AFter that, probably more cleaning.  Sunday is church followed by a guild sponsered quilt class.

what does your weekend look like?

Yep, tis.

We had demo day today, but after everything this last couple of weeks I hadn't done any designs to create cards for today so I called in as a spectator.  And tonight I'll go back and sit and put some invitation designs together.  I'll be working on my new website over the next few weeks and putting together a heap of samples.

I have to redesign the business cards though to reflect the change of business name.

Fun fun fun!!!

I wish I could work in a quilt shop.  Maybe when the children are grown. :-D

I used to work in a second-hand bookshop.

This weekend we've already been three hours across the ranges attending a book fair.  We voted on the way home.  Now we're watching the election results.

Nothing planned for tomorrow except getting ready for our trip to Aussie next week.  (Ironing and stuff.)

We're off to Brisbane (Byron Bay, actually) for the weekend.  Plus a day each side for driving up to Auckland to catch the plane.

We're staying with Gary's sister and her family (five teenagers living at home) and his brother and sister-in-law will be flying down from Bowen to join us for the weekend.

My weekend....
Okay, starts with watching the Rugby League, as I write this, the score is 24 all between England and NZ. I'm going to follow that with some shopping, then settle down to watch the football this afternoon. Tonight, well I promiosed my parents I'd treat them to a takeaway while we watch 'Strictly Come Dancing' and follow that with a dose of 'Casualty' (the show ER was based on).

Sunday - I'm supposed to be going to watch my cousin's 8 year old play football - note to Americans- the ball will be round and the players do not require helmets and padding.

In the evenings I plan to continue my ebay listing spree, hopefully I'll get through my anne mccaffrey stuff sometime this weekend, I've got tons of other stuff I've still got to list as well. Band T-shirts, star wars figures, baby clothes, movie posters anyone??? You know you want my junk!

Oh Emma, you mean REAL football.

Hey Cali...what sort of stuff do you have?  Send me a list! :)

It's mostly junk honestly, I'm such a bad packrat, I just have to have anything and everything niche related when I see it.  For example, I've bought 4 Twilight t-shirts from hot topic in the last month... 4.  and I'm begging my husband for the tote bag too.  What do I need with 4 Twilight t-shirts?  Nothing.  If you really want to see you can check that link (I posted it someplace) every now and then, I'm just posting stuff as I see it... or dig it out!

Saturday: Clean the house, go to the mall...specifically Nordstrom, see my Grandparents, and then I think I'm going to my friend's house :)
Sunday: Exercise, start on my homework, and then start on a solo post
Monday: Finish homework and hopefully finish one of the two books I need to read for class
Tuesday: I get Veterans Day off, so maybe I'll be able to see my friend and have a DVD marathon at her apartment.  If not, I'll work on more homework
Wednesday: Go to work, then go to Todd McCaffrey's book signing at Barnes and Noble.  I'm not a fan, but I own Dragonsblood so I might as well get it signed  :D  I wish his mother would be there instead.....  Speaking of which, I have a Library First Edition hardcover w/ dust jacket of Dragonflight.  It's not in great condition, but I'm still thinking about selling it.  It's a long shot, but let me know if you're interested!
Thursday: It's back to school!  My long weekend is over  :(
Title: Re: Our weekend
Post by: Cali on November 08, 2008, 01:51:54 PM
You should sell it, I believe I saw a xlibrary DF go for $75-100 on ebay.  It depends on the condition of the Dustjacket, but still, a good price if you don't really want it. :)

Post by: Dana on November 08, 2008, 01:59:30 PM
You're right, Cali  :)  Last summer I was lucky enough to find a perfect edition of Dragonflight for under $100.  I bought it, even though I had the Library one already....which is the only reason why I'm giving it up!

Saturday: My ex-roommate came down from Tokyo...  We walked around my town for five hours...  I showed her both my schools...  We went to a museum... took a lot of pictures...  Went out for sashimi for dinner... Came back to my apartment and split a bottle of sake...

Sunday:  We'll go into the city together...  eat Breaded Octapus Balls (Tako-yaki)... drink Starbucks...  Send her off on her bus to the airport... Probably more starbucks... And then I'm going to a soccer game :D

I worked at my part time job all day today.. and every pet that came in had an ear infection.  Just one of those days!!  Just got home.
Remainder of evening: a coldbeer and attempting to answer coposts and mark down crayon awards!

Sunday AM - church until noon, then maybe lunch with friends
Sunday afternoon - FOOTBALL Sunday
(The american kind that requires lots of padding....)
My Cowboys are off, but I love football no matter who's playing.
Sunday evening: Church small group

I convince myself that I'm actually working while I watch football because I do laundry and clean the kitchen while its one haha.   Its a nice arrangement.

Monday and Tuesday work work work work.
Wednesday big presentation, then last minute business trip to Georgia.

I believe I need a boyfriend.

Boyfriends are overrated.

Where in Georgia?  I'm originally from there!

Dude, out of 23000 people at the soccer game the Japanese guy who sat next to me lived for three years in my college town in the states, went to my univeristy at the same time I was there, he also went to the Japanese school that I worked for for five years while I was at that school, we have mutual friends that we both knew, and we both live in the same small town now.  My head is about to implode or explode, or maybe implode and then explode.  I swear, Japan is the smallest dot in the universe!

Boy did I have a splitting headache last night!  I didn't get any ebay listing done and just sat on the couch counting the minutes until the kids bedtime.  My husband had a gig last night so I had to be the responsible parent. :(
I'm feeling better now and back at work (hint to anyone who wants to post today), and hopefully I'll be back to ebaying tonight.  I just found a box of audiocassettes I can list since I listen to everything on mp3 format now!

Since last night counts as weekend still... Boy did I go on a ebay listing spree!  I think it was the coffee I was drinking while listing.  My fingers were aching by the time I called it quits, but I'm pretty happy, I got alot of stuff listed, and I've even got a few bids already!

Paula, your son does judo?  I used to do judo!  I do Aikido now and hubby still does judo.  I love Aikido but I do miss my judo!  What organisation is he in, if any?

I was just curious.  How old is your son?

Nine. He is in kid-judo, which isn't exactly same than the adult judo.

How is it different?

The only thing they don't do with the children at my hubby's dojo is they don't teach them arm locks and chokes.

They don't teach certain moves, which you already mentioned and it's bit easier, I think. I'm not expert though.
