Ok, five days into NaNoWriMo and it's not going well. Yes, I had reached 8064 words by the end of Tuesday, but I was struggling. Last night I managed to type 383 words in three hours before I finally admitted that I hate my characters, I hate my story, and I really don't want to do this.
Anyhow, November 6th and I'm starting fresh. No planning, no outline, but I have a story that excites me a lot more than my original and in 25 days I intend to write a 50000 word novel. I suppose if I ran short I could always count the 8000+ words already written, but I'm going to try to do it wihtout them.
Good luck Vix!
Yeah, that's a better idea. Just wing it! Good luck.
I shan't post my word count. You'll hate me. *hides*

Says the person who claimed not to have time to write a novel ...;)
Well, really, I don't. It's kind of taking place of certain things. Like...cleaning around the house and I'm actually taking some time from my quilting.
When I do write, though, it's pretty fast. Probably because I'm not too worried about quality since I know its' gonna stink anyway. :}
Good luck, Vix.
I'm still hmming and hawing about whether to start. I could always start it in January when everything has been done with Mark and he's recuperating. :-
we could write a book together!
LOL....intercontinental writing?
Mills and Boon?
Who are Mills and Boon?

That's what NaNo is all about! Ignoring chores and setting aside other hobbies to write a ton of crappy prose. :D

A little removed from Bree and Donna's stories. LOL

I luffs Mills & Boon. :love5:
Ah, I've heard of Harlequin. So that's the history, eh? I learned something new today!
Probably going to bed soon...shall spam tomorrow I'm sure. :)

Why am I not surprised??
I actually like the Temptation books - they're a little racier and more to my taste. LOL
I tend to avoid straight up romance novels, actually. :}

So you're more into Bree's stories, then?
Or what?
And girl, you should be in BED!!!
Er...I tend to avoid books that have explicit sex scenes I guess would be a better way to put it. :-D
And I did go to bed right after that. :-p

Okay, so more on Jane's bent than Bree's. LOL
Yeah, probably. Have no problem with sex. It's just...explicit sex scenes make me giggle.
It looks like I'm back on track with NaNoWriMo. After restarting and some truly poor writing days (long work days with minimal or no writing), I've been attending write-ins on the weekends and picking up larger word counts than during the week. I'm still behind, but after writing 6000+ words yesterday and a goal of 4k for today, I'll be passing the halfway mark! I already have the frame for my certificate and it will join the others on my wall.
How's everyone else doing with their counts?
I have 32000 words, so I'm ahead of the game. I'm having fun with this novel, and I haven't yet resorted to silliness (I have a list of things to write in if I get bored or run out of ideas: zombies, ninjas, a circus, things like that). Bad writing, yes, but nothing ridiculous plot wise.
Hitting the midpoint slowdown for me. I'm wishing I went for a more whimsical theme, cuz I really just want to get stupid with it all about now.
Over 37, but I don't think I'm going to get any done today. Very busy day.
Plodding along, slowly but surely. Just under 29k. I write about 1000 per day on work days, with a few long days designated as non-writing days (like today -- worked 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. but wrote 500 so I figure I'm good). However, on weekends I attend write-ins and usually write 5k or more per day. I'll make it -- 6 off-work days between now and the end!
I have successfully worked in pirates. :D
I've gone to a lot more write-ins this year thanks to my laptop, and it seems to be making things easier and more fun. 38,000 words so far!
I'm going to win. It's just a question of when.
45,000 words!! 8 more days left, and then you guys can have ALLLLL the coposts you can handle from me. I probably won't know what else to do with my time. :D
I'm only at 35k -- unless you count the 8000 from the discarded novel. However, I wrote 5000 words yesterday and am attending a write-in this afternoon, so that should boost my count. Add to that, my NaNo writing buddies are now practically living at Panera in the evenings so that gives me added inspiration.
I win! IwinIwinIwin!!
I made it to 50,000 words today!! :D
WHOOOO!!!! That's amazing! How are you gonna celebrate?

Congratulations!
Congratulations Becki! Alas, I'm stuck at 40k. Life is just way too busy.
Congrats, Becki!
I'm currently at 43k and expect to write at least 4k tomorrow.
Just a few more days and I'll have my life back!
Of course, my writing group has decided that in January we will start meeting again for editing.

I got a little tipsy ... ok, drunk - on champagne last night. I'm going to a TGIO (Thank God It's Over) party on Dec 3rd, and then I'm going to not write AT ALL (except for coposts) until January. :)
Done!
I'm still at a write-in, will be again tomorrow, supporting my fellow NaNoWriMo participants.
Of course, of 12 of us here today, 7 have crossed the finish line. One of those who has not is a Young Write (I think she's 8 years old) and the fact that she is even writing makes her truly amazing.
Congratulations Vix!
Congratulations Vix!
Yay Vix!
