Does anyone else read the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer? I flew through all 3 books during my Women of Law Enforcement Conference last week, and they are my new obsession! They're YA, but I adore them and can't wait until the movie in Dec!
I haven't, though I've heard mixed reviews about them. I'm going to see if I can borrow the first one from the UNT library and read it sometime soon. :)
I've read some discussion about people not liking the writing style. It's first person (which bothers some people), plus it's simple writing (why people think a book can't be good unless you don't understand what half the words mean is beyond me), but it's the _story_ that caught me. It's just one of those all consuming love stories that you just don't see much anymore. Plus her vampire world is not like all the other vampire worlds out there. There is no gothis nature to it, or sexual gratification from drinking blood, no coffins, or burning in sunlight, etc. It was just a really neat read and I could imagine it in my head as I was going along. :colors:
Well, despite what people who haven't liked it have said, I do want to read it - at least try it. Don't know til you try, right? :)
exactly. The reasons I hadn't read it before are pretty much what I posted above. I'd just heard poor things about the writing so I hadn't wanted to pick it up. But I think the few grumpy heads were all I was hearing in the beginning. ;)
Heehee, I disappeard for a couple days because the new Twilight book call Breaking Dawn came out. I was at a release party Fri and then Sat I stayed up all night/day (14 hours) reading all wonderfully glorious 756 pages!
It's the final book in the series so for all you that don't like incomplete series you can pick them up now! :D
I have read all 4! Superb imho!
I know many Bella's in real life ... shudder
I just read the first 3! I am out to buy Breaking Dawn tonight.
I loved them... and I just ate them up. I read the second one in 3 hours. THREE HOURS.
I do really like them :)
Meh. I've not even read the first yet. I need to. Guess I should make a trip to the library. :)
About the same for me... and i reread book 3 and 4 three times already!
I vote Bella as the most dangerous human in the world!

Why? Or would that bring about spoilers and I should wait and read the books?
Not so much a spoiler as a running gag
Bella ... is Bella :-D
The girls at the office have been reading this series and promise to let me borrow it once they are done.
It sounds very good. I have been listening to Blood Ties by Jennifer Armentrout on my mp3 player. I'm on the second book and am really enjoying the series so far.
Ok for those that have read it.. would you agree that Bella is probably the most dangerous human on the continent... and in the world if she plays sports ? :geek:

Bella is a clutz and is always getting hurt. It's not a spoiler, it's just her life. :D
Yay! more people reading Twilight! And the movie got bumped up to Nov 21st so we can all see it even sooner!!!
I've been MIA the last couple of days because I've been living in Twilight land.
First off, the movie was AWESOME!!! I've been getting all tight chested every time I think about it.
Note: I won't talk any spoilers for anyone who is worried.
Alex (my husband) and I went to the midnight showing Thurs night. We got there about 7:30pm for the midnight showing and it was alot of fun waiting. We ate Olive Garden, played Magic the gathering, talked with fellow twilight fans and overall just squeed alot waiting to see it. Oh, and did I mention we were in Costume? Yeah, it was my Rosalie costume I'd been tweaking ever since DragonCon and my husband wore a Emmett costume I put together for him. We looked so good. And were were about the only ones in costume, I was very disappointed. My husband chaulks it up to most of the fans being 16 yr old girls, but I would have thought that some of them would have put a bit of effort into it instead of just wearing Twilight shirts. Oh well. I'll try and post a pic later once I get them uploaded.
The movie was amazing and magical, and pretty much right out of the book. They merged a few characters and scenes and cut alot of stuff out, but it was still the book, they didn't change anything important. The chemistry and romance and need and intensity is till all there and that was the most important part, the part that makes you love the books and the part that still has me spazzing out when I think about the movie.
I got to bed by 4am then got up at 8:30 Fri morning to go shopping with my mom. We met up with Alex at 4:00 to see the movie again. And it was even better the second time. Alot of stuff happens in the background that you don't notice the first time because you're focused on Bella and Edward, but if you watch, the Cullens are always doing stuff and Bella's friends are always doing stuff. So keep an eye out. :)
We want to see it again today but I don't think it's going to happen. We've already used both babysitting options for the last two days. It's like withdrawl I need a fix bad but I don't know how to get it!!! I'm thinking maybe one of the grandmas might watch the kiddos on Sunday so we can see it again. Hopefully... gawd I need a fix bad! I'm off to listen to the soundtrack and squee and cry as I reply to posts. So if the replies don't make alot of sense it's because I'm having the shakes and need my Twilight fix!
I'm waiting until I've got the books before I go to see it. The books are on my xmas list, and I don't the film is out at the cinema until after xmas here.
You want to see the SAME movie three times? :irre3:
YES!
If it was out on DVD it'd be on continuous playback at the house. And it's not just me, my husband is as in love with it as I am.
And Emma, while I'm all for everyone seeing the movie immediately, if it's not going to come out till after christmas anyways, reading the books first is a great idea. At least the first one, twilight. Maybe New Moon too because there is alot of foreshadowing in the movie for New Moon that wasn't really played up (but still there) in twilight.
I got to see it again last night! 3 times and I'm still in love with it.
I think we get to go see it again on Monday. :D
