Is anyone else watching this? There are two episodes to go and I can't wait for the last in the series as it is building up to a climax....
I'm not going to post spoilers, I don't know if the Sci Fi channel in the US or other channels in other countries are keeping the same pace as the UK.
I suppose the only good thing about Doctor Who series four cooming to an end is it means Robin Hood will return ;)
And for the record I am old enough to have watched it on a Saturday evening, and it was my kid brother who hid from the cybermen/daleks/sea devils/sontarans and the repeats of that era some how don't have quite the bite of this one, even if Tom Baker was THE Doctor.
My mom and I used to watch Dr. Who on the PBS station when I was younger. It was one of my favourite shows. Tom Baker was my favourite Who.
I finally got to see a couple of episodes while I was in Georgia since my aunt and uncle have satellite. I really enjoyed them. I hope I can start getting the DVDs soon. :)

But I do remember the daleks and the tartis, and how the Doctor was always changing (which one wore celary in his lapel?) and the girl was always changing but there was always a girl...
Sometimes there was a guy, Eimi. :)
Looking back at some of those Doctors that wouldn't surprise me... ;)
I think one was his granddaughter's boyfriend. :-p
I'm a Third Doctor person. I started watching when the transformation was happening from Second Doctor to Third. :)
I LOVE the new Doctor Who! My friend got me hooked and we watch the new ones together on Fridays (when SciFi shows it). It's a little event for us. :)
This Friday is the second part of the scary shadows in the library. We hooked another of our friends and she swore at the end because she'd have to wait a week to find out what happened. LOL
My friend Charles loves Donna. I think she's a great companion. And I like the 10th (9th, too. Those are my Doctors). We might go as them for Halloween - Me as the Doctor and him as Donna :D

That was Peter Davison, who followed Tom Baker in the 1980's. He wore cricket whites under his jacket and was the only doctor who had a companion (male) die on screen.

I love the new Who! *flail* I've seen the UK eps already even though sci-fi is behind...shhh... There was such a fantastic buildup! The ending fell flat for me though, but I won't say more for fear of spoilers.
'Turn Left' is a stand out episode, you'll like that one.
'The Stolen Earth' and 'Journey's End' are being reshown here this evening (Sunday) and I wil be watching again.
It's actually quite funny writing this now - I have repeats of Dr Who on right now complete with Rose, Mickey and Jackie

Okay, I'm a sporatic Who watcher so I don't know all the mythology. Somebody said that the Doctor can only regenerate a certain number of times, anybody know how many that is?
And I was Watching Midnight last Fri and had to run to the door at the end can sombody fill me in on what I missed?

It depends whether they take that as canon or not.

Canon might have been broken when John Simm's Master did not regenerate after being shot at the end of series 3 - the Doctor urged him to regenerate. Also, they are not counting the Paul McGann film as canon, so therefore that Doctor may or may not have existed.

I have a dislike for nearly all the companions I've seen though... Donna has been my fav. so far, but Rose and Martha both improved *after* they split with the Doctor...

I saw John barrowman in concert not that long ago. It was a great night -we were three rows from the front, and yes he did bring out Captain Jack's coat. It was all wrinkled on the stand, so he said he was going to 'straighten him out'. We roared with laughter.

LOL, I knew it meant something big, I just didn't know what! :D Since I'd already been spoiled to the finale from the boards when it aired in the UK, I went ahead and wiki'd the last two episodes too. Now I'll understand all those little bits in it as well :cheers:

I just watched them on youtube. Are you able to use youtube Paula? It's kind of annoying that they are broken down into 7 min sections, but all the episodes are there, you just have to search by episode title (ie. Doomsday part 1).

Cost: 48,55 euros. Already watched some of the special features and one episode.
Ouchies! €48 sounds expensive, but then the £/€ rate stinks right now.
It's expensive, so I don't do it often.
So far I've gone as far as the "The girl in the fireplace" which was funny and kind of sad at the same time. (Loved the horse!)
I wish I had whole day to watch it but I'm limited to one episode/night.
The girl in the fireplace was the episode I saw that made me start to pay attention to the show. I actually watched part of the first episode when the relaunched (the one where the dr met rose with the maniquins), but it was slow and hokey so I didn't watch anymore. But The Girl in the Fireplace was really sweet and interesting and hooked me in. :)

I love that episode. I've seen it 4 times, and I'm still not tired of it. That's the episode that sold me on the 10th Doctor.

SciFi totally blew some of the surprise for the finale. Right after the last few seconds of the first part, they show a preview with Tennant all over it. How stupid can you be? It was supposed to be a cliffhanger!

How come the Doctor never seems to land on rigth time/place? Either it right place but wrong century or the time is right but the place isn't. Or it's totally off the mark? Seems like he just can't navigate.

He never could get it right. In the original series before the BBC relaunched it there was some sort of problem with the Tardis navigation. There was even one year with the Third Doctor where he was stuck on Earth because the Time Lords took away his ability to time travel. Of course I'm not old enough to remember that the first time round, I've seen the repeats.
I first remember Tom Baker as the Doctor, then Peter Davison who's daughter interestingly grew up to play a character who was 'The Doctor's Daughter'.
Peter Davison was unique as his Doctor was the first one to have a companion actually die on his show (Adric). He was followed by Colin Baker and SYlvester McCoy, when it got silly as the BBC slashed the budget for it. It went off air for many years before Russell T Davies got his mitts on it.

I remember reading about this once, but I can't remember where or when - a quick search brought up mention to it on Wiki (not the most reliable of sources, I know, but meh)... but Wiki says this is because he's absentminded, clicky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenth_Doctor#Personality_quirks)... So I think it's probably partly that, and partly the Tardis navigation and Emma suggested.

Oh my, I finally got to see Journey's End, stupid sci-fi channel started it a half hour early so I had to download the whole thing. Am I a pansy for crying the last 10 min of the episode? it was fabulous.

no mention was made in the preview of it starting at 7:30 instead of the usual 8:00, so I flipped it on a few minutes before 8 like always and saw that it was already in full swing. I checked the tv guide and then saw the start time and flipped it off. I was very bummed :(
Now I'm also bummed, because according to latest reports, Sci-Fi didn't make a deal for the 4 2009 specials... so now I'm guessing I'll have to download those too.
Anyone want to bet we'll see a bit darker Doctor for the specials? He was left in quite a mental state at the end.
All that has been released here is who the baddies are for the Xmas special.
There may be a special episode for Children in Need night in November, you'd have to hunt for that on the internet.
Torchwood will also be experimenting with a different format to give those concerned a bit of a break. It'll be a mini-series over one week (five episodes possibly including Noel Clarke (Mickey) in some way, but whether he'll be writing/directing/acting in it I don't know (He wrote the 'Fight Club' episode in series 1).

Yep, me too. When we turned it on, we realized it had been on for 10 or so minutes already. :( We waited for the replay at ten.

You love this: My daughter and I were watching some random episodes of old Doctor Who's. The Doctor was played by Tom Baker. My daughter stared him and then asked: "Is the doctor boy or girl?" The hair y'know. :rr:
