Didn't Anne say there was a genetic shift and the Pernese were in general less hairy? I think she was talking about no beards ... then approved all the portraits for People of Pern.

Most of them were beardless, but I know there has been at least one person mentioned who had a beard and was quite proud of it. Can't remember his name.
I know some Triad personas have beards, so we allow beards/mustaches/etc. So at least some men can grow them.
As to the question of what/if women shave... Well, I think it's best to just leave that to the individual's imagination since I doubt there will ever be a post where a woman's leg hair or lack thereof would play a pivital role... ;)
But...but...I'm just DYING to know!
Well, I think I can safely say that shaving would not be against canon since if men can shave, women can shave. As to whether they do or not... What do you think your persona would do? Would they shave or not shave? When you imagine your female personas armpits is it clear-cut of heavily forrested? Which would you rather imagine for them? You tell me.

Well, I was just curious and it wasn't a completely serious question. I'm certainly not going to post about any of my characters shaving her armpits! I was just trying to imagine if Pern women were furry or not! *G*
I'm going with the Anne-theory: That the men and women are naturally low-fur items - because I don't want all my men to have to shave in the morning, either! Triad's (and Anne's) beardy ones are just some sort of throw-backs!
