I was thinking...what would be all be if we were on Pern? Would you be a dragonrider? What colour? A crafter? Which one? Any specialty? Perhaps you would be a Lord Holder. What would your hold specialise in? Agriculture, seacrafting, mining? Or perhaps you would be on the riverboat...
Well...what would you be?
Probably an ordinary hold wife.
I'd like to be on the riverboats; I'd probably be a smith or technician.
I would probably be an archivist. I'd be living in the Record Room. I think that's why I instilled that aspect of myself into U'kaiah.
But then again, I might be a farmer, specializing in working in the nursery, because I have 13 plants in my apartment. I'm a plant fiend! I need more space for my plants!
Either that or a cat... I think if I had a cat I wouldn't need plants... I'm a crazy cat lady without any cats so I've substituted plants instead... I'm the crazy plant lady.... Is that worse???
Honestly, I think I would be a dragonrider, only because I have a creepy sense of empathy. I could tell you the really weird stories, but I'll keep this short. Also, I've always had a feeling that if dragons existed, the weyr would be where I would belong. It probably sounds silly and presumptuous, but it's what I honestly think...
And what color? Would I really have a choice? In the end the hide hue does not matter, I would just be happy to Impress.
...and I have to agree with Eimi.
I would need a cat. I have two already, and I'm sure my Pern alter ego would have one, or two, as well...
Oh yes. Cat's are a must for me too! We have five currently. :)
As for me...I would either be a holdwife or a crafter. If I were a crafter, I would be a Harper. I love music and even studied it for a while. :) I really don't think I would want to be a dragonrider because I'm a big coward. :) If I were a crafter but not a harper, I think I would be a Weaver. I love to quilt and it would be cool to learn how to do other things in fiber arts. :-D
I also think being a Dolphineer would be awesome too, and I do love to swim. Alas, I think I'm more inclined to the first two crafts. :)
If I was Pernese, I'd probably either be a Beastcrafter who worked with runners, or a Harper who either recorded histories or did very bad portraits for people who couldn't afford someone better. Or I'd be a regular Holder with nothing special about me save for an itch to be doing something else entirely. :P
QuoteI'm a crazy cat lady without any cats so I've substituted plants instead
Eimi? That explains a LOT. *g*
I would be a runner. (No, not a runnerBEAST.) :D
Hmm... I'd probably be a wife to a man outside of the Weyr--maybe one who works with runnerbeasts so I could be around them :love5: I think I'm much too conservative to be a dragonrider, but if I did happen to accidentally Impress, I'd ride green.
Yeah, I think I'd probably be green too, Dana, if I did impress. There's no way a gold would want me! *G*
Dolphin craft hall is an interesting area too. Unfortunately I am a major procrastinator and any hall I would chose to pursue would result in me becoming a hall staff... but I can multi-task so working in the staff would not be so bad.
I'd either be a beastcrafter or dolphineer I think.
I love dragons, would envy any who had one, but don't think I would be prepared to risk my life daily in such a noble way.
I know myself too well. ;o)
Oh good, Kaysea, you and I are alike on the dragonrider issue. :-D
I probably would have wanted to fly Thread just because it scares me, and I would hate to think I was that scared of something that I couldn't face it.
Though I would probably never Impress a dragon because they would know of my deathly fear of heights XD
Oh, I hadn't thought about the height problems as well. LOL
I'd have to add that to my list of reasons for not climbing adragonback. My whole family are aware of my fear - and thinks its a hoot!
*grumbles*
I could probably do the dragonrider thing but, you know, fifty Turns of it? Even the WWII pilots on whom they're based got time off for surviving!
You must have a head for heights hun.
I hate flying. If I had me a dragon I think I'd be one of those who jumped /between/ before my draggie got very far from the ground. LOL
I agree with the height issue: can't stand to be up there, though I do love my roller coasters. Somehow I don't think I'd be a good dragonrider.
I'd probably have a family and be working in the creche somewhere. Possibly a healer or harper, but maybe not.
I have what I would want to be, and what I would probably actually be if I lived on Pern.
I want to think that I would be a greenrider, because I have always loved flying. In planes, in my dreams, in my imagination. Even when I was in gymnastics my favorite event was vault, because during the seconds between pushing off the vault and landing it was the closest I could ever get to flying.
I have a feeling though, that I would have grown up at a large hold instead, and been married off early, unless I managed to escape to the printer hall or weavers, since I love the rhythmic bliss of running thread through a loom, and I do have an overactive imagination that might stand me well with the printers...
Wow, gymnastics? Something I don't think I could have done!
Hm. I wonder what would happen if someone made a candidate who is afraid of heights but impresses? *G*
I would like to be a hold harper. Being responsible for the education of the hold's youngsters and writing stories through verse is what I'd love to do on Pern. The next persona I create I think will be a Harper.
I used to write a lot of prose, but not so much anymore. I stink at it anyway. :)
I would love to be a dragonrider.
I'd either be a really happy Harper scribe playing with records (like Yvonne- the archaeologist in us!), or I'd be a dolphineer, because if swimming with normal Earth dolphins was amazing, swimming with talking dolphins would be better.
Avril, you've swum with dolphins before?
Quote from: "Amanda N"Avril, you've swum with dolphins before?
Yep! Marineland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marineland_of_Florida), the world's oldest oceanarium (precursor to Sea World, etc) is located in my home county in Florida. They offered dolphin shows when I was younger, as well as educational programs. One of those was the opportunity to swim in the main tank with the dolphins for an hour. I had so much fun. We all (the 5 kids and the dolphins) played with a basketball, flinging it back and forth and whenever a dolphin thought we were getting tired of, it would swim over and support us. It was such an amazing experience, and I'd love to do it again.
Sadly, hurricane damage has relegated Marineland to only the place where the dolphins who lived there stay. The old tank (where they did the filming and the shows) and the stadium is now destroyed. They still occasionally do educational programs, but that's about it.
Oh man, I would love to swim with dolphins. I did get to swim with wild manatees once. Man, that was a great experience for me! I also got to see newly hatched sea turtles that same week. Awesome. :)
When my mom use to work for the Miami Seaquarium I swam with the dolphins, and got to pet Lolita the orca. But I was only six or so. I've also seen quiet a few wild manatees when I use to live down in Florida. It's really a unique experience.
:skeptisch: All you dolphin swimming people better have Dolphin Hall characters or I'll want to know why!
I ran out of character slots :bounce:
But don't worry, I'm grooming the path away for one.

I look forward to seeing him/her.
Jane, I have one! Kale hasn't been posted with in a bit but I have her. The whole experience is WHY I write a dolphineer, actually.
I have a plot ready for her and everything. I think it might prove to me interesting :D
Jane, I didn't swim with dolphins, I swam with manatees. :)

You know where I am - me and all my Dolphin Hall characters.
