Title: Greetings!
Post by: Amanda N on February 15, 2008, 03:23:20 PM
Hello everyone!  Some of you know me.  Some of you don't.  Some of you are probably groaning loudly to see that I am here.

Anywho, my name is Amanda.  I'm 29 (almost 30) married, with two children and five cats.  I played on here a loooong time ago.  Things in my life have gotten to the point where I feel comfortable about committing myself to roleplaying again. And, of course, Emma can be very persuasive.

I'm very rusty on Pern.  I should probably reread the books.

Anyway, when I get a mentor, I'll be posting, hopefully, quite a bit.  I look forward to writing with all of you!

Really?  Where? :)  I love to quilt!

As for pictures of the cats...http://www.flickr.com/photos/narilia/sets/620033/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/narilia/sets/620033/)

The oldest isn't pictured.  She's 18.  The other three are.  The outside cat, Tabitha, is also not pictured.  Maybe I'll get pictures of them eventually.

Got time to chat?

What about the riverboats?  The women on our riverboats have a tradition of quilting.  We'd always welcome another riverboat character or npc.

Yay for quilting in Pern!!!!

Thank you. :)

Japan...oh how I miss Japan!  I know it seems odd to say that since I was only there for a week, but I loved it and didn't want to come back!  I took Japanese for five and a half years.  I miss it!  I'm going to try and teach my children and, in the process, reteach myself. :)

Welcome, Amanda -- I probably know you from somewhere!

And if you take Jane up on the quilting, we'll be doing a bit of coposting!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Vix...I'm already thinking about a character for that area for when I'm able to get a second one! :)  I know it will be a while, but hey, I can have her ready, right? :)

Which part of Japan did you visit?

We flew into Tokyo/Narita and stayed with one of my teacher's family.  We visited Tokyo the next day, stayed in a hotel, then flew down to Kagoshima the following day.

Once in Kagoshima, we drove through it and down to Makurazaki.  We spent three days, two nights there (homestay) and then drove back up to Kagoshima.  We flew back to Tokyo/Narita, stayed one more night with my teacher's family and then flew back to the states.  I told my mom she should have just given me her credit card and I would have been happy to stay! :)

Kagoshima is a beautiful area.  Hopefully you weren't there in August though XD  That's when its really hot and humid.  But the history of the area is fantasic!  I want to go back down there and see the historical sights of the last stand of the Satsuma Rebellion (one of the last stands of the samurai before they gave up their titles).

We were there in...March I think.  It was right before the height of the cherry blossom season.  Some were blooming in Kyushu, but most had yet to bloom. It was at the start of the Japanese school year.  I'm afraid I honestly can't remember the date very well.  My memory isn't the best.  Bah.

I took 14 rolls of film in three days.  I would have had more and pictures of that big shrine in Tokyo, but I lost my camera on the subway.  My homestay family gave me a new camera and it broke, and then they gave me another one that was even nicer!  So...in three days, I took 14 rolls of film.  Yes, I am a nut.  This was why when I told my husband I wanted to get a nice camera that I needed to go digital. :)

Guess what muscial Aimee & Bobbie's school is doing this year, Amanda?  So we're being overloaded with the score.

You should come over for try-outs, after-all you know it back to front.  LOL

And Vix - you should remember Amanda!!  She was at PS with us - around the same time as Bree, Amy, you, Mikel, and I.

I recognised the nickname. *grins & preens*

Oh man, if I were thinner I'd LOVE to play Belle!  Alas...I could play Mrs. Potts though, or the Wardrobe.

Is this Home?  Is this where I must learn to believe in?
