Title: Hello. I'm the newest Newbie.
Post by: PastMember on September 20, 2007, 03:20:45 PM
This is my first PBEM experience, so be gentle. I've been a fan of Anne McCaffrey since college (the late 80's). My mother actually gave me Dragonflight and I've been hooked ever since. I have submitted to adopt Supaka as my first persona since I have never participated in anything like this before. Anyone with any advice, tips, or co-post ideas, please help! And if I do anything stupid, please forgive my ignorance and clue me in!

Greetings, Vanessa -- and welcome!
As soon as your adoption of Supaka has been approved, you'll receive plenty of offers for coposts from all of us who write at the Dolphin Hall. In fact, I'm offering up any or all of mine whenever you'd like!

Well, my older brother lived in Austin for a while, and my neighbor's from Austin...  So doesn't that make me a Texan by association?

Not that being a Texan isn't a great thing, but I think should clear up any misunderstaing and say that I am a:

Olympian-Spokanite-Ellensburgian-Seattlite-Washingtonian-American refugee in Japan ;)

That should make things much clearer!

I'm in Longview. Moved here when I was 8 (mama married a Texan).  Went to A&M at College Station, then UTMB in Galveston. Lived in Houston for 4 yrs as well. When I got ready to have a family I realized Longview was the  best place in the world to grow up!

Glad to know you!...All of you.

And thanks for the warm welcome. :occasion5: Cheers!

Clear as mud, thanks!

By the way, I was born in Japan! My father was in the navy. My family lived at the naval base in Yokosuka for 4 years. My older sisters remember it, but we came home right after I was born. I'd like to visit someday, though.

Well, I just mean I lived in Olympia, Spokane, Ellensburg, and kinda Seattle, all in WA state ;)

Yokosuka is the base just outside Yokohama, isn't it?  I've a had a few friends who dated Yokosuka boys ;)

Yes, south of Yokohama. Right on the peninsula. So are those Yokosuka boys cute? Hmmm. I AM the only one of 5 girls with Brown eyes.  :silent:

WHOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! AN AGGIE!

I graduated in '99 from A&M, but I should've been class of '95 (OOPS).

I'm so stoked to have another Aggie on the site!   Of course, then you blew it by going to UTMB.  LOL.

We're practically neighbors Vanessa.   I lived in Tyler for almost 4 years right before I came up here.   I've got a really good friend that lives in Longview too :)

I was born in Orange, Texas and lived in Texas all my life except for a few years in Michigan, 1 blissful year in Colorado, and then the last 5 years in Illinois. Ick.

Well, HOWDY, DAMMIT!  What do you know? Of course, I am much older than you, I am class of '89: the glory days when Jackie Sherril (sp?) was coaching and we went to the Cotton Bowl 3 of 4 yrs I was there (and beat Notre Dame with a Heisman Trophy winner --Tim Brown?--too much fun.)

Yes, I ruined it by going to UTMB, but I wasn't going to turn down a research stipend AND the beach!! Besides, my blood is maroon and 3 years fraternizing with tea-sips isn't about to change that. LOL.

I CANNOT believe you lived in Tyler! I work there 2 of 3 weeks (on a rotation). To me, Longview/Tyler is like Dallas/Fort Worth or Bryan/College Station...pretty much the same place. What did you do in Tyler? Why were you here?

Never been to Orange, but I LOVE COLORADO! Went there for my honeymoon (in the summer) and we almost decided to move there (Snowmass).

Too much to say! I guess we'll get to know each other presently. So nice to have something in common, though.

By the way, did you take the "Science Fiction Literature" class at A&M. It is still my absolute favorite class!!!

I've known a few cute boys from the Kanto area, I have to say ;)

Hi Vanessa!

I need to visit Longview again sometime soon. My father in law and two sister in laws live there. I live in Spring, just north of Houston.

I have a sister in Friendswood, so I visit Houston often.

When you visit longview, give a shout.
