Title: I need to vent
Post by: PastMember on August 24, 2007, 02:00:00 PM
Okay, I'm mad at my work.  I had several nice decorations tacked up on the wall, mostly postcards from my attorneys and a mardi gras mask my attorney brought back for me from New Orleans and some beads.  So my supervisor came around, looking at everyone's offices and told me that I need to take everything off the wall that is tacked up and NOT in a frame.  So I steamed a bit and did a typical Allison thing and took EVERYTHING off the wall, so now all I have up is a plant and some framed pictures of my dogs and hubby and my little puppy calendar.  JERKS. grrrr

That sucks! I mean, you spend a full third or more of your entire 24 hour day at work... you should get to personalize it. How are postcards and a nifty mardi gras mask hurting anything? Are you going to suddenly become more productive without them up? Probably not. In fact, if it were me, I'd be just as unproductive as I could get away with and not get into actual trouble, just out of spite because of it.

I know, and my work wonders why our morale SUCKS.  Yay, I get to start at a wall that looks like a dog peed on it.  Oh it's my lucky day.  I feel disgruntled now.

Well, hey... At least it's Friday though, right? Get through today and you won't have to look at the wall for a couple of days anyway.  :umarmen:

Thanks for your sympathy. I appreciate it. :) I'm looking forward to at least one day this weekend sleeping in.

No sleeping in for me -- had to be up and about to await the Comcast tech, who was due between 8:00 and 11:00, and of course, showed up at 10:45.

However, he couldn't get the line to work -- said that it should have been run from the outside but no one was home when they arrived to do it. This was not an appointment that was communicated to me in any way, and I had to call them to find out that they had scheduled installation for this morning (this was a continuation of the problems from Aug. 15).

Anyhow, after an hour and a half, he told me that the lines would be run on Monday and that I must be here. Right. I must work. I managed to schedule this for between 5 and 8 p.m., but then he tells me that I'll also need another appointment for the actual cable/phone/internet installation.

After he left, I called Comcast, was put on hold numerous times, ranted, raved, and finally was escalated to supervisory level. They finally said that they didn't feel it was fair to keep me on the phone but will call me back -- they're trying to arrange to have all done in one appointment.

Does anyone really think they'll call back today?
But if they don't, tomorrow I'm arranging for different service providers, even if they don't offer the convenience of one bill.

Did they call back Vickie?

I've always had decent luck with Comcast folks calling me when they say they will. Their arrival times leave much to be desired (if they say 8-12, they'll always show up at 11:50! :jg: )

It makes you just want to grab them by their ears and shake them.  I hate when those places give you a 4 hour window, b/c most of the time I have to take time off work and they don't show up the first time ANYWAY. grrr. ;)

I think I've resigned myself to a bare office.  I just turn my music up louder now. mwaahahahahahahahaaha

They called back at 7:30 p.m. to say that all would take place today (Monday) between 5:00 and 8:00.

I left work early and the technician for installation arrived at 5:15, puttered around the apartment, and announced that he couldn't do the installation without the lines installed. He called the company -- to find that they had rescheduled wiring from the outside for Wednesday, 8-11 a.m, and installation would have to be rescheduled for sometime after that.

After he left, I called RCN and arranged for them to provide the same bundle of services. They'll install on Wednesday evening.

:: sighs :: You're not having much luck, are you?

I think I'm doomed to never again have phone, cable, or reliable internet. I really tried, making the arrangements before I moved, but it just didn't work out that way.

On the plus side, the last time I moved, I was also taking online classes. Imagine how disastrous that would have been using this current company.
