Title: When Reading your Triad Posts . . .
Post by: Kaysea on August 22, 2007, 07:50:58 PM
Do you read the stories you have written and the ones you have coposted, or do you just file them away for safe keeping?

I print out the posts that come to the Triad mail list to read in bed at night.  I copy and paste them from email to Word, then reformat the pages I want to print so that I get as many stories to as few pages as possible.  I then print it out in 8pt print.

But - I rarely print out my own stories to include in the sheaf of papers I take to bed with me.  I rarely print out the coposted ones I've done, either.  After all I know what I have written and what my coposter has written, so there's no real need for me to do that.

Those posts are in a separate folder to be saved to disk, so that I have a permanent record.  And these days they're saved to CD.  All my old posts from years ago were saved to floppy and now I can't access them - even if I could find the disks. LOL

So, how do you deal with your posts - read them again, or just file them away?

I do read them again after they appear in the mailing list. (and wince at the all errors...) I save them for some time (especially if there is follow up post on the way.) then I delete. They are saved on Triad webpages, so why would I keep them?

Well, I just sent my first post out yesterday, so... =)  But, my plan for the future is to skim over my posts and coposts that are sent to the mailing list.  Then, if I still have some print quota left at the end of the semester, I'll print out as many of my posts as I can, and put them in a binder.

In the first club I joined, I didn't save any of my posts and am sad I'll never get to read them again.  Luckily, Jane recognized my name and sent me a couple of old coposts we had done.  Yay!  Those are great to have.  So, I've learned my lesson and really want to have a hard copy of everything I write.

Through some silly quirk of gmail, I don't get stories I've sent through the mailing list. Never have. That's why sometimes I'll bug someone on AIM with the question of "Did you see this-or-that post I sent out?" Or, if I can restrain myself from buggin folks, I'll wait till I notice a bunch of stories have been added to the site and check that mine was among them.

They've always gone through... I just don't get them back.

But, back on topic... I reread my posts. All the time. Especially just after I send it... I usually reread it at least two or three times immediately after I hit  send... then when it makes it to the website archive, I reread it again another two or three times. Mostly to reassure myself I didn't send something crappy. :jg:
