Title: Harry Potter?
Post by: PastMember on July 07, 2007, 10:08:19 PM
Hey everyone! Here's somethign to get the discussion going...

1) Are you going to see Harry Potter at midnight? If so, are you doing anything special?

2) Do you think Snape is good or evil?

My answers:

1) Yes! I'm going to see HP at midnight and I'm going to wear my Griffyndor shirt and my sis is going to wear her Slytherin shirt we just got today.

2) Snape is good!  Because I said so man!

Ummm... Harry Potter isn't out until 13/7 in Europe. No spoilers please.

I don't know when it's out here and if we're talking movies I probably won't bother going to see it.

I'm not a big HP fan, though I like the books well enough to buy and read.

Yeah, Snape's good.

I can't see the movie at midnight b/c I'll be flying out for a job interview on Wednesday morning. However, my usual group (a friend and her now-16-year-old son) along with a few others will see it on Thursday. I'm not yet sure what time, but we WILL see it on Thursday. I probably won't dress up though for PotC3 my friends and I (all "older" women) wore eye patches.

As to the book, I need to reserve my copy. I've been contemplating this for months but with a job search on and move involved, I wasn't sure where I'd be. Now it looks as if I'll still be here, so I'll order later today.

Snape's good.

And Emma -- have you read the books? If so, there can't really be spoilers, can there?

Ahhhhhhhh!!! Everyone thinks snape is good!  What is wrong with you people? Just Kidding!  I think snape is neither good nor evil I think he works purely for himself.

I plan on going to a midnight showing of the 5th movie, but me and mis a amigos have yet to make anything definite.

I have read the books, but by spoilers there is always something in the way that the director envisages the film and the effects that can be seen as a spoiler.

1) Uh huh, I'm seeing it midnight with a huge group of people.  I think we're taking up like two rows or something  *g*

2) I'm still not sure about Snape.  We shall see  *g*

Well, I do have a couple thoughts...  Let's just say I'll be really disappointed if there's not more to Snape than meets the eye!

When's the movie come out in the US again? Weekday, or weekend? I have to wait till a weekend to see it, but I am seeing it ASAP.

Also, Snape is good.

Let's see....

I want to go see it at Midnight, but have to work Wed, so not able to. Will see it during the weekend perhaps.

As for Snape, I think he's good, but there has to be a lot of depth to him. I can't wait for the book release and have reserved a copy.

I don't know when its coming out in Japan, although I have seen 5-story buildboards for it while I was here in Tokyo...  I should pay more attention I guess...  But my town doesn't have a theater, so I rarely get to see movies.

I haven't read any of the books yet.  I may eventually.  But I'm not going to reserve a copy since I'll probably know the ending within a week of it coming out, so I don't actually HAVE to read it, right? XD

Of course you have to read it, Eimi!  The movies don't do the books justice.

SNAPE IS BAD!! Bad bad bad!

And I'll wait to see it until the first "wow" rush is over :)

But you're right Eimi - everyone who reserves the books and reads them in the first week spoil it for those who wait! haha!!

You CAN avoid the book spoilers with no problem, but they're also VERY available if you want them.

I can say that I've never stood in line for an HP book.   And I don't plan to start :)   I did stand in line for a Robert Jordan book...

not worth it though!

Eimi, you HAVE to read the books!! What's the fun of knowing the end w/o knowing the build-up to it? I'm so excited for the movie and even MORE excited for the book.  And yes, I plan on waiting in line for my HP book 7 on the 21st! In fact, my friend and I are going w/ my lil sis and we're just going to hang out.  When the 6th book came out, it was packed, but everyone was really calm and nice about it, so that helped w/ the wait. LOL

I've ordered thorugh Amazon for the book to be delivered on release date. I'd have reserved earlier but I wasn't sure where I'd be living on release date. At the moment it looks like I'll still be here -- though probably not for much longer afterward!

I heard that Amazon.com has a record 1.6 million requests for the book and they're all going to be delivered that Saturday.  That's an AMAZING organizational feat! LOL  :compress:

It really is  :D  And you definitely save money buying it on amazon, and I would've ordered it that way, but it's been tradition for me and my friends to go stand in line and get it at midnight  *g*  It'll be fun to go to the last Harry Potter bookstore party, too....

But of course!  Amazon is a Seattle based company!  They're all fueled by Starbucks!   :coffee2:  Nectur of the gods, my friends.

1. No, not going at midnight.  We went in today and reserved tickets for the family to see it at 6.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday) night.  *shivers in anticipation*   Not sure what time that is where you are, but I know in WI and TN it's about 3.30am, if that helps?  (Cinema's over here are only showing from 10.00am onwards tomorrow.)

2. Snape is good.  He saved Draco's soul by 'killing' Dumbledore. *nods*  And yes, by 'killing' I mean I don't believe Dumbledore is dead.

3. Won't be queuing to buy the book, I'll waltz into Target at 9.05am Saturday morning collect the book from the massive display stand near the front door, and walk straight to the checkout, and be home reading it by 9.15am. *nods*

(That's the way I've done it the past two releases...)  :D
