Title: Second Interview!

I got a phone call last night from the principal of an elementary school that I interviewed at on Thursday with their assistant Principal and a 1st grade/reading teacher. He would like me to come and visit with him on Monday.

It was a nice way to end my horrible afternoon in trying unsuccessfully to get my power turned back on.

I've never had a second interview before so this has to be a good sign, right? It is a position that I feel I can do and truly enjoy my work. The school is PreK-1st grade and their opening is for a Life Skills teacher.

Wow it was a good weekend for the working people, I got my first job yesterday afternoon too!  No interview necessary.  I start Monday!  Good for both of us!

They offered me the position which I accepted.  The only thing they have to do is finish checking refeences and submit the decision to the Board for approval on Monday then I get to go fill out paperwork and that sort of stuff.

I got a tour of the campus and my classroom. It's very nice and I'm excited to get to know the students and teachers. There are four students in the class and one aide.

Thanks everyone! I signed my contract on Thursday and will start with a new teacher orientation on the 13th of August.

My mom is going to throw me a teacher shower at the end of the month. She read about it in a dear Abby column last week and decided that it was a good idea to celebrate me finally getting a job. Everyone brings a favorite book from their childhood and different things a teacher could use. I like the idea because as a first year teacher there are a lot of things that you don't have and could really use.
