Title: Anyone Want Drawings of their Characters?
Post by: PastMember on May 31, 2007, 02:37:41 PM
Well, as my life goes, I've gotten bored. One reason why I'm trying to get more and more into Triads. With one story waiting from approval from my Mentor, 3 more stories being written and a new 'sona waiting for approval... I've found I have nothing much to fill my days. (I have a job waiting, but since I got married and will be going to Houston, TX soon, I have to wait till the middle of June to start!)

Anyways, on to my point. I have 2 years of my Bachelor's in Illustration done and would love to continue to build up my portfolio. Yet, I have a hard time sitting down and finding things to draw. (I work better when there is a reason to complete something). What I would love to do is offer my services to all of you - for no charge. My only request is that I get to keep the original images for my portfolio.

So, if you would like a drawing (b&w or color) of your character, dragons/firelizards, etc... contact me and we can figure out exactly what you want. I will scan in a few of my past drawings and post them as soon as I can, so you all can see what I can do. But, I can to realistic, or more illustrative styles.

:D I'm just trying to keep myself busy.

Ohhh, that's wonderful! Don't make me request way too much from you! ;)

(On a random note, do you do people's original non-Triad characters as well?)

I sure do! Just let me know what you want and all the gory details and I can come up with a sketch, show it to you and you can let me know what you do and don't like. :D

What would like, Becki? Any specific character of yours?

I sure do! I can't draw a human...

Could you draw a picture of Aileyan?
http://www.triadweyrs.org/persona.php?ps_id=494 (http://www.triadweyrs.org/persona.php?ps_id=494)

as a hint, I always pictured her to look like young Wiona Ryder (like in Edward Scissorhands) but with much more hair.

Oooo! I'll get right on it. I'll even find a picture of Ryder in Scissorhands as a reference. When I get a quick sketch done, I'll post it here for you and you can let me know if you like it or not.

Kate, have you sketched your own characters?

I've no clear view of any of my characters -- more their personalities than their appearances. For example, in Hartam's description he has brown hair tending to gray -- I can't see him in my mind, but his personality and mannerisms (particularly those while singing) are based on womeone I know who is about the same height but with a shaved head.

Actually... I wouldn't mind if you could do a few of mine.  That'd be so cool.  I'd post my art of my characters but I always look at everyone else's realistic amazingness and feel inadequate because mine are all anime style cause I can't draw realistic for crap.  I'm good at dragons though.

I'll email you with specifics if thats ok.

I haven't done any for Triads, though I'm going to very soon, amongst the ones I will do for anyone here.

The one below is if a character I once had in a long dead Pern PBeM. She was a Journeywoman Harper named Elisbeit. And I'm thinking about using the image to represent a character I am thinking about adopting at Kadanzer Weyr - hence the file name. It isn't the best, since I didn't spend much time on it. The drawings I do for everyone here will be more finished.

That's really great, Kate!  I have no arty skills so I'm quite envious.

Very nice, Kate.

I can draw turtles and butterflies that are recognizable to 4-year-olds, but that's the extent of my artistic talent.

Oooo. Kate, I love your offer! I've been toying with the idea of drawing some of mine, but whenever I try my art skills vanish.

You'll be hearing from me!

My mother is an artist and got her degree in Graphic Design. Art runs in the family. That, and when I graduated from high school... I knew that if I went to college for Art... I'd actually have a chance to graduate.

But, my school got put on hold when the hubby and I moved to New Mexico in Nov. 06. But, one day, I'll get my degree. *crosses fingers*

Until then, you guys get to help me keep myself in the flow and all. Hehe. For which I am eternally grateful!

I love to draw and have drawn a few of my personas. Though I haven't drawn anything in a long time. I would be intrested in seeing how someone other than myself sees my personas. If you'd like your more than welcome to draw any of my personas. As long as I see them I more than willing to give permission.

I'll give it a shot then! You don't have to keep it or anything, just see how close I can get to your vision of one would be a great opportunity.

There are a few of my characters I'd love drawings of, and I have mental images of how they look, next time I catch you on AIM I'll chat with you about it if that is okay.

I just wanted to let you all know that I will be in Houston, TX until the 16th and I'll be back in New Mexico on the 17th or 18th. But, I brought my sketchbook and pens/pencils, so I will be able to work on all the drawing in my hotel room while the hubby is at work. It all works out perfectly.

I did bring my camera, so I can send images of the sketches to the owners and discuss changes and whatnot. When I get home, I will scan them all in, so you will have perfect copies.

Also, if you would like them in color - let me know. I recently taught myself to "paint" in Photoshop. It will take a bit longer, but if you don't mind waiting, I can do it.

Again, thanks for all this guys - you're keeping me busy and happy. :D

Thank you very much, Avril. It means a lot to me that people like my work so much. I just love giving and since drawing and such is the one thing I know I can do, I'm knowing for giving drawings and paintings for gift.

I just love to share. :D

Hi Kate!
I'm a bit late getting in on this, but you have a real talent, the drawing you posted is beautiful and I might just have to ask you to do some of mine if you haven't already gotten more than you can do.

You are more than welcome to ask for a few drawings. I don't have too many yet. Just let me know what you want and I get on it.

Alright, here is the list of everyone's portraits I've gotten so far. This is in order of who contacted me first and I'll do the drawings in this order so I make sure I get everyone's done and correctly.

1 |  PAULA - Wingrider <b>Aileyan</b> (Green Kjarliheth)
2 |  ROCHELLE - Wingthird <b>Eleada</b> (Green <b>Gliorith</b>)
                        Wingrider <b>F'melar</b> (Blue Oemorth, Blue <b>Tabs</b> & <b>Affi</b>)
                        Weyrlingmaster <b>R'syl</b> (Bronze Usaeth)
3 |  BECKI - Wingrider <b>D'ren</b> (Bronze Menanth)
4 |  PATRICK - Hallsecond <b>Kouna</b> (Gold <b>Via</b>)
                      HAD <b>Saria</b>
                      Hold Resident <b>Kosten</b>
                      Jnr. Weyrling <b>I'poro</b> (Blue <b>Foroth</b>)
5 |  EMMA - Weyrleader <b>K'sedel</b> and baby <b>Radela</b> (Bronze Nikornath)
Wingsecond <b>K'deren</b> and baby <b>Deralie</b> (Bronze Donneth)
6 |  VIX - Jnr. Jrym. Weaver <b>Tanas</b>
7 |  APRIL - Candidate <b>Dirwol</b> (Gold <b>Treasure</b> and Blue <b>Flips</b>)
Wingrider <b>B'drin</b> (Brown Lumyth)
Wingrider <b>H'mos</b> (Canine <b>Lord Puddles</b>, Brown Mosiyth)
Jnr. Weyrling <b>Aidiata</b> (Green Ambilyth)
Holdless <b>Erilite</b>
8 |  AINSLEY - Hold Resident <b>Evaleine</b>

So, far that's all I have. If I missed you, or one of your personas, let me know and I can change it. Also, names in bold are figures that will appear in the drawing. If you would like a rider's lifemate to be including, or a pet, or child/other family member/etc, let me know and I'll add their names next to the correct persona.

This list will be updated often.

Kate, you've read Tanas' persona sheet -- I'd like to see how you picture him from that.

I think I mentioned this in the e-mail, but just to be sure... F'melar should probably have one of his flits in the picture, since he relies on them so much. :)

Rochelle reminded me.  Via should be in Kouna's picture, cuz she's a gold and loves her owner so much.

Post by: PastMember on June 08, 2007, 12:31:21 PM
Alright, so, I'm going to start out by getting rough sketches of everyone's 'sonas done. This is so I can show them to the owners and see if you like the positioning, size of human-to-dragon/flit, etc. Then, I can go back and fix things and redraw them all in final format.

This sketching part is the hardest for me, but I want to make sure that they look like what everyone wants. I should have the first few done in the next few days and once I have all the sketches done, I should be back in New Mexico and near my scanner - which I use for creating the final drawings. (I use Photoshop to clean up drawings and such).

I just wanted to let you all know. :D
