I really mean stories from other Pern clubs - or this one. What club-wide plots have you seen done, been involved in, organised, etc? Which was a favourite?
What smaller, one or two persona plots have impressed you within Pern Fandom?
And from the cliche-queen, can cliched plots and cliched personas be written well enough to justify their existance?

At my last home-in-Fandom we kept setting fire to the Smith Hall. Over and over again. Implausible? Not really; it was based on my time in the Air Force when the same barrack block was set alight three times and the arsonist was never caught.
I think the smaller plot that still sticks in my mind the most vividly is one that must have needed BoD approvals by the hundred. Hannah at Ridges had her brownrider R'hy make a couple of accidental jumps in time during storms. He did that whole paradox thing, being in the past and bringing things forward, affecting events then. It was very clever. (And he ended up mute, which is what most people remember.) But the best thing about it was that most people coposting with him in later years didn't realise he was still not in his right time. He was living out his life in the last time he'd jumped to - too afraid to try to get back to where he belonged.
Cliches are my life! I have nearly all the dependable brownriders in Pern in my arsenal. My bronzerider was flashy and showy and a natural leader. My male smiths are always big and bulky. My families are always happy. So, heck, I do hope cliches don't drive anybody mad around here. Similarly with plots, no matter how often it's done, each plot is carried by its writing. (I still love my Impression-from-the-Stands moment.)
I wish I'd been here when the Harper Hall burned down - just to see what was done differently from the Smith Hall firings at the last club. (We got obsessed about firefighting euqipment by the end of the series. Man, did we know everything there was to know about the early history of firefighting!)
