Title: Counting down marks...
Post by: PastMember on March 13, 2007, 03:12:35 PM
I know a similar thread to this came and went some time ago... but I couldn't resists starting a new one!  :bounce:

I have just about 700 marks right now, which to me is getting into the big numbers. Never thought I would get so far so fast! So this sets me close to those big goals I have been dreaming about...

Right now I can afford a full clutch of flit eggs (700) complete with a gold. Of course none of my personas have a flit... so it might be hard for them to have a clutch... :compress:

Here's the countdown...

I am 300 away from a New Hears All Dragons Persona (1000 marks)
2300 away from a Retired Goldrider Exempt from the 1 Goldrider Rule (3000 marks)
or 4300 away from a Jr. Goldrider Exempt from the 1 Goldrider Rule. (5000 marks)

In short... I better get posting!  :bounce:

So how far is everyone else from their goals?

Goals? What goals?

I'm keeping track on my marks too.  But I didn't want to post one about it.  But since YOU did I might as well.

I'm 230 marks away from my HAD persona (1000) (make that 228 after I post this)
and I'm... well when I get her I'll be back at almost zero so I'm about 5000 away from my goldrider.  But that's all I want from there.

Or try this for a similar effect using less marks:

125 - One complete flit clutch to distribute (Between 7-11 eggs, no gold.)

+

350 - Gold flit egg to keep or give away.

Perhaps your character could find a clutch?

Sadly, I have no goals left.  I got the two 'forever requirements free' rewards I wanted.

I actually like requirements.  They help me to keep my ranking persona's alive and kicking.

If it gets to the stage where requirements are the only reason I'm posting for any character in any month, I'll be thinking seriously about retiring them.

I'm not sure that I would't get sick of writing an HAD.  Unless he/she was a trouble maker and listened in just to cause trouble... (hmmmm... now that's an idea....)

I'm a bit like Vix, I don't know what to save for. I spent fifty on my Crazy Aussie title, and now I'm stuck for anything to save for.

Been there, done that. It's a lot of work and now I'm in it for the fun. I've no desire to write for a HAD, always forget that I have flits, and the reqs don't bother me. Besides, I want to build up the bank and have everyone else envying my vast quantity of marks!

Right now 2000 seems a long way away.

And the only two crafts I would wanna write in...

No, Jane. ;) You can't cheat the system like that. Contrary to popular belief, there are awake minds running the website somewhere... they will notice. :D
Title:
Post by: Rochelle on March 13, 2007, 06:59:43 PM
:( I'd like a junior or senior goldrider too, but I kind of figure by the time I managed to earn enough marks, there would be too many of the things tripping around. *sigh*

Like Kaysea, I did consider a PC craft hall, but the only one I'm interested in doesn't look like there would be many takers.

But ... but Bree!  It makes sense!  A complete clutch of 7 to 11 eggs including a gold is nearly almost exactly the same as a clutch of 7 to 11 + 1 gold egg.  Honest!

(Acutally, the cheaper option could potentially have one *more* egg than the more expensive option ...  It really does pay to shop around!)

 :smilebox:

Don't tell me that all those days spent studying the member rewards to discover this are going to be for nothing!

Well mine was the Beastcraft/healer Hall... but there's not much call for one as there's hardly any sona's.  And the other one that's already running, it wouldn't be fair to mention my persona....

I was considering the weaver hall, but given that all the weaver adoptables are still available and the PCs with weaver backgrounds generally ignore their history, there doesn't seem much point. :)

I'd be interested in the Weaver Hall.  You save up Rochelle and I'll come and make characters there.

I'd make characters for the Weaver Hall. As to Beastcraft Hall -- all of these animal science majors would be sure to help you, Kaysea. And somewhere plans exist for both of them, I think.

I'd gladly make a beastcrafter.  It sounds like fun.  And as for weavercraft.  I'm sure I could make up a character or two that would be IN LOVE with weaving.
Title:

Beastcraft Hall was there, but was lost when the club resized/prioritized.  But, as I said there don't seem to be many beastcrafters/healers around on the persona lists.

Maybe some time down the track...and maybe by then I'll have teh 2000+ marks I'll need, but for now, I'll be happy just passing menteeship status.

I have a list of things I want, but I haven't decided yet which I want first.... do I want to go for something relatively inexpensive that I can get right away first or do I want to wait and save up to get the more expensive things first?

Can't decide!

So, until either a situation occurs which forces my decision, or I make up my mind... I'll just stockpile them. :) Eventually though, I'll buy something. I can't not. I look at the list everyday! lol

It's a shame, Garnet Valley Hold has a Minehall attached, though it's not functioning as such at the moment.  I think its an NPC location?? Bree?  The Smith Hall is attached as a PC location but no mention of the Miner Hall on the main menu, and no miners so far. :(

I have a couple of miners I used to play, just no one to play with over at GVH.  :(

I have occasional bouts of impatience and a strangely impulsive nature. Sometimes I can wait quite patiently... other times I say "Screw it!" and just jump right in! lol

If I don't make up my mind as to which goodie I want first soon so I have a plan, I'll probably just wind up picking the coolest one I can afford at the moment! lol

Or not.

Hard to tell with me. *G*

The NPC locations including the Minecraft Hall: http://www.triadweyrs.org/faq.php?fq_id=708 (http://www.triadweyrs.org/faq.php?fq_id=708)

Problem is we need to make the existing Halls go well, really, because spreading a fixed number of writers over many Halls just makes it hard to get positing momentum going in all of them.  Even if it's not the craft of choice, we're likely to get more posting and storylines from consolidating in the existing Halls.

Which I would do, but the craft ban offends me (the writer) so much I just don't want to put any character of mine in a Hall situation.  Except the Dolphin Hall, and I already did put a character there.

We have:

Dolphin (12 characters; 19 posts since 1 Jan)

Harper/Printer (13 characters; 11 posts since 1 Jan)

Smith (8 characters; 4 posts since 1 Jan)

Vintner (15 characters; 15 posts since 1 Jan)

Quote2000 - Create a New PC Craft Hall & Hallmaster at an existing Hold.

Need a goal that will last longer than the last two did.  So, from the top:

5000 - Jr. Goldrider Exempt from the 1 Goldrider Rule.
Did once think this would work since I have a goldrider at the old club, but no.  I didn't get attached to her there, don't suppose I would here.

4000 - Create a New PC Hold & Lord Holder.
Hmm, maybe.  I've never done anything in the Lord Holder line, ever.  How strange!

3000 - Retired Goldrider Exempt from the 1 Goldrider Rule.
Well, no.

2000 - Create a New PC Craft Hall & Hallmaster at an existing Hold.
Interesting but hard to keep active unless there's real support among the other writers.  Of course, a Healer Hall would come ready-populated with Bree's NPCs!

1000 - New Hears All Dragons Persona.
Going to run out of spaces for these before I get there!

900 - Forever Reqs Free Level 3 Persona at a Hold/Hall.
Would probably need some plan for a L3 character at a Hold for this to be my next goal.

800 - Forever Reqs Free Level 3 Persona at a Weyr.
But this one's a possible.  I do have an idea for a L3 at a Weyr and the Forever Requirements Free thing always appeals to me.

There, now I have my very own goal!  Only 800 marks needed.  I have 225 right now (+2 for this post).

Well, alright then.

I'm gonna work up a proposal and so on to split the Masonry specialty of the Miner craft into it's own specific craft with it's own specialties including construction, stonework, bricklaying, drafting, and archetecture among others.

See, I've given it a lot of thought - I've given all the rewards lots of thought... which is prolly why I had such a hard time deciding. *G* But I sorta figure I've more of a concrete plan for this one.

I think gonna go ahead and write up the proposal now though, and the articles so the Council can see if it sounds doable and then, if (and that's a big if, I know, cause the reward says 'new craft hall' not 'new craft', but I'm hopeful I can presuade with my most excellent proposal writing *G* and article work) they say yes, and I finally reach 2000 marks, I'll get the story going. You know, get a Master Miner character who specializes in Masonry and have him lobby for his own crafthall and so on leading up to the creation of the crafthall.

I wonder if we can combine marks for something like a location?  Two or three people combining marks makes it happen faster, yes, but also shows a commitment from those two or three writers.  Perhaps a new Hall or Hold could start out with critical ranks filled and more than just a token unranked persona?

That sounds like a VERY good idea Jane.  Not only would it encourage people to post there, but it would give the new location a strong Rank base that it wouldn't have if started by one person.  You know, have the Lord or Hallmaster, their respective Seconds and/or Ladies, the Headwomen, the Stewards.  Its sound much easier than making the Hall/Hold THEN finding recruits.

We have a murder investigation, a gay dolphineer, TWO Gold flits, a confusing relationship between Hallmaster and his Second, a troubled relationship between a Journeywoman and her apprentice.  (That and the fact that Cali and I are coposting MACHINES!)  So our Hall IS BRIMMING with Plotlines!  Yet why aren't people banging down our doors to be here?  Come on people what are you waiting for?

ROFL!  We're coposting machines all right... I come back from my work and kid induced LIA, and I have 19 coposts waiting in my inbox! (and Eimi and I aren't working on anything right now, we usually have 5-7 going at a time).

Quote from: "Jane"I wonder if we can combine marks for something like a location?

The council is now taking this idea under consideration. :D

By the way, when I finish writing up my proposal and related articles and what-not, I need to send them to the Council right? Or is there a special email addy I should use?

If anyone's interested in a Beastcraft Hall, I'd be willing to put up some marks and a persona - Headwoman, maybe? - to help out!

I will be bringing Mastertanner Occhipinti back from beyond soon, as a retired Mastertanner.  Seeing as he would like to keep his hand in, but NOT at the Hall (it will all be in his updated history).  Seeing as he needs Beastparts for his craft, a Beastcraft Hall woudl be a good place for him.

So I will be willing to donate some marks.

Oh a beastcraft hall would be sooo much fun! Maybe if we all got together and donated a hundred marks or so...

Hmmm. . . I have an idea for a character at a Beastcraft Hall, so I'd help out.

After I get my HAD I'd be happy to help out with a Beasthall project.  I have a few characters running in my head waiting for backgrounds, maybe one of them is an undiscovered beastcrafter.  But HAD is first, then other things.

I'd be willing to throw in a couple of hundred marks here.  I love beasties!

But I love torturing Vix with graphic descriptions, even more.

In reply to both of you - don't keep us in suspense!  What are/were they?

Well mine was the Beastcraft/healer Hall... but there's not much call for one as there's hardly any sona's.  And the other one that's already running, it wouldn't be fair to mention my persona....

See Mikel, I already stuck my head in the door with this one, but we'll have to see how it goes.  For now I'm still concentrating on intro-ing my first persona.  Who as you may know is a beasthealer....

Hey Patrick!

I notice some marks seem to have disappeared from your Info block.  Does this mean what I think it means???

It does so now I'm poor.  She's up waiting for approval as we speak.  I'd already written up her persona sheet so all I had to do was copy/paste.  I'm really excited about it because she's going to be a kind of HAD that Triad has yet to see.  She's not crazy and she has no idea she has this power.  So its going to be FUN having her figure it out.  And the best part is she's all ready been introduced, as an NPC for one of my personas.  She kept screaming in my head that she wanted to exist but I couldn't figure out how to do it.  Then I saw the HAD reward.

Well congratulations hun.  Sometimes the best persona's are the ones who scream at you until you finally give them wings.

Ok - Patrick, Anwen, Vix, Mikel, Cae - we have been given both a plotting Thread and a Usergoup for those who are willing/able to contribute even a small sum of Marks to get the Beastcraft Hall up and running.

Only the planning stages at present, so if you like you can all go and add yourselves to the Usergroup and anyone else interested of course!

Sorry, still not the full quid on how the forums work, but I have now added the above five to the Group, so if anyone else wants to get in on the action please PM/IM.

(No contributions necessary - just come and create a beastcrafter/healer!)

~Kaysea :)
