Mine would have to be a cross between lovey dovey Mills and Boon, and out and out, overly melodramatic soap opera style.

So that's my style - what's yours?
My writing style is ...well, the only word I can come up with is "descriptive".
If I can say "drowning deep" instead of "deep", I do.
If I can say "talented, slender" instead of "fingers", I do...
many times, I'm not sure that is the right approach. Perhaps I would call it a love affair with adjectives?
But when I do write, I want the reader to BE in the story with me. I'm there, so they should be too, so that means I describe as carefully (and generally long winded-ly) as I can.
I'm also quite verbose and may take a paragraph to say what I could have said in a couple of sentences.
All of that comes from 12 years roleplaying on AOL, where he who wrote the best, most descriptive scenes, won.
Again Im not sure these traits make me a "good" writer, but it is me. :)

Unfortunately, I think I write like I dress - with no sense of style at all. I just go with what feels comfortable in the moment ;)
I'm the opposite of Clancey--if I can say it short and sweet, I try to say it short and sweeter. I HATE long paragraphs, and I have an absolute obsession with one-liners.
I write the way I like to read--my eyes get lost in long paragraphs so I avoid them. Short, sweet... and if possible, shocking!

I'm with Bree -- short and sweet. I'll give descriptions when necessary, but prefer to leave quite a bit to the imagination. On the other hand, I can write vast amounts without being redundant -- while my classmates padded their writing to reach 750 words, I'd write twice that while keeping it very sparse.
Sometimes people tease me about it. *g* I have to conciously attempt to control my urge to use the 'Enter' key too much... Everything I wrote would be broken up into 1-3 sentence paragraphs if I let myself go. 3 on a long day. ;)
Though I don't get to write with my real style at Triad, because my real style has a potty mouth. :schweig:
I think it's good for me to have to write without resorting to bad words all the time, though. :D
I guess I would call my style descriptive and emotional...emotional meaning that I want to express how my personas are feeling or what they're thinking about. I think it helps the reader become a bit more involved in the story--makes it more fun for them to read. :)
I think my style is a mix of all of them. I'd much rather be as descriptive as possible, making sure the reader got what I was trying to convey, but if I can sum up what I want to say in one line, I do it. I also Love to have my characters talk. I love Quotation marks! Yup.

Yeah, me too. If I could get away with just dialogue I would. I'm more comfortable writing dialogue than descriptions. I would be in heaven if I could write in the form of a screenplay.
Description is my strong point. I've had people say that I've given them shivers, or made them nauseated, or uncomfortable, or seared pictures into their brains. Often I think they're buttering me up for something. *g* I love decription - a well placed, well crafted turn of phrase can do wonders for a story.
That being said, I also don't like to go on and on and on. Berevity is the soul of wit. ;) You need to balance the two.
And dialogue is fantastic too - what people say is often a more effective characterization device than describing what they do.
I tend to get to the point, although sometimes I wish I was more inclined toward description. I show more than I tell, with dialogue and actions.
I am very short and to the point when I write... I hate using long discriptions. Usually this style has proved very effective in my classes... but right now I am taking a travel writing class and it is killing me! With travel writing they want all those long flowery discriptions that are totally not within my ability...

But I tend to go towards looong sentances and long paragraphs. (My high scool teacher scolded me about it may times. Use the:.) I'm very bad to write spoken or slang-english, because I don't know it. Hence the literatiness.

That's fine Paula, ask Vix, my sentence structure and grammar drive her to distraction. I love writing, and I can spell most peoples ass' off, but as for punctuation - forget it. I'm hopeless with vowels, adjectives etc, and English is my
native language! :D

Strangely enough, second language speakers often seem to do much better with English grammar than do natives. During my recent classes, my closest friend was a South African woman who was teaching English (her second language) in Taiwan. Her sentence structure and spelling were more accurate than other classmates.
And I don't correct unless asked to do so.
