Title: Dragonlengths
Post by: Jane on November 15, 2006, 12:05:40 PM
Eeep!

Dragonlength = size of a green or 40 feet - measurements web page

Greens 20 to 25 feet (full growth) - weyrling training web page

I was dividing miles by the number of feet in a mile (no easy task for somebody with a metric upbringing) and then dividing that by the number of feet in a dragonlength ...  Okay, that's when I got confused!

Thanks!

I still find it difficult to believe that Ramoth was the size of a jumbo jet... can you imagine riding something the size of a 747?

AM said that the measurments in the DLG weren't true.  She was more like 45feet instead of 45meters.  It follows on down the line like that until you get greens at 25feet.  But thats still huge!

45ft is over 13 meters (13,7) exactly. We're talking about buss-size here.

25th is 7 meters (7,62). Thats pretty damn big for a living thing.

Thanks for pointing that out Jane!

It was me that put up that FAQ on measurements so people would realize inches and feet and meters and such are not normal for in character Pernese... That was more the main purpose behind it than to spell out the lengths, but we can't have two different meanings for the same length!

I will talk to the council about it and we'll correct this to the RIGHT size for dragons, which sounds like 25 feet for greens, I remember that from other websites too.

Thanks!

Thank you, Clancey.  My lack of maths ability thanks you, too.
