I'm sorry. I have to do this. When I was a child my mother every Sunday used to sit in front of the TV set and watch Football. And it bugged the heck out of me because I wanted to watch cartoons and football just got in the way. Finally one day I walked into the living room and complained because I was sooooo bored and when could I watch MY stuff? Mom said "Well, honey, if you're so bored, why don't you watch football with me?" I thought, ok, since there's nothing else to do. So I sat down and watched. My Mom explained the rules to me, and told me stories about all the great players on the TV - Dave Kreig, Jim Zorn, Steve Largent, J.L. Williams, Curt Warner, Steve Reible, Grandpa Nash, Chuck Knox... and I was born again a Seahawks fan that day way back in 1984. And every Sunday after that, Mom and I would sit in front of the TV together, while my Dad and brothers (who can't get football at all) marched back and forth and grumbled about being bored, and the women in the house cheered on their admittedly pathetic, but MUCH loved team. And so I just have to say, in honor of my Blue Tribe...
MY SEATTLE SEAHAWKS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL BABY!!!!!!!! 8)
My vote goes for Hell has frozen over, but I am more partial to Canadian Football. 3 downs= way more exciting. Hey, we don't even need commentators to enjoy watching the good ol' CFL. Don't know if there are any other football loving Canadians out there to side with me. Yvonne is Canadian though:) I think....
I don't know american football, I don't understand it.
So, I vote for: who heck cares?
Pssssst... Paula... "Who the heck cares" falls under the category of "I have to say the Seahawks or Eimi might use her evil plottings against me..."
And I've watched Candian football on the Candian channel, Michelle! Not bad. Some of your good players came down into the NFL, like Doug Flutie. I think he played in Canda. And actually, the wrestler The Rock played up in Calgary if I'm not mistaken... He was actually a very good football player when he was in college in Miami from what I hear. (Don't ASK me why I know that....)
Lotsa good guys played for calgary... come to think of it flutie was one of em. unfortunetly we loose all of our good guys to the states cause it pays more. I woder if boericther (or however its spelled) plays for KC still. People in Calgary still talk about what a good reciever he was.
I'm with Paula - they don't play proper football in the USA - no Eimi, you will not win that one. Bring on Germany 2006!
Well, Emma, I seem to remember that the US team went just as far as England's team in the last World cup... 8)
I vote against the Seahawks! WOOOT!
Now do I get evil plotted against?
:flame: Bree, you are SOOOOOOOOOOO going DOWN!!!! :violent3:
WOoohooOOOO!
Bring it, baby!

Yup, he still plays for the Chiefs. Go KC!
And I hope that Seattle wins, but I honestly don't think they will. Good Luck though!
OOO thats great. He was a huge reason why we won our last championship in Calgary (and then things started to go downhill from there....)

The Rock is my cousin. :) His 2nd cousin is married to my cousin. They have an adorable little girl that I got to see last Christmas.
Hey Becki... you should ask him if he wants to run for governer! See, I've been traveling around the country getting Actor/Wrestlers elected in my wake... I need someone for Alabama having taken care of Minnesota & California already...
I still have my "My Governer Can Beat Up Your Governer" t-shirt! That's right! Minnesota did it FIRST! :D
They might have done it first, Bree, but I think California can safely say that their governer could beat up your governer. Of course, that's about all he's good for...
Becki - that's cool. I'm not related to anyone famous, living or dead. Unless you go back to like Adam and Eve or something! We're a nobody family  Well, except me of course 8)
Duuude... Jesse THE BODY Ventura could take Ahnold ANY DAY!
Because he's Jesse... THE BODY Ventura. And he was a Navy Seal! He told me so when he was shaking hands at the U of MN before he got elected. :D
Course, he's not the governer anymore. :p But he was THE BEST!
Had to vote Steelers... or I can't go to my friends house for the Super Bowl :/
I vote for the Seahawks because I'm a West Coast-er :D
And Becki, that's very cool you're related to the Rock! 8)
And Emma, USA teams play _awesome_ football - so don't go dissing us now

Football is silly! I only like it because lots of people stay home to watch games and make it easier to get around during football season if you time it right. :p
Now Tennis. That's a sport I can appreciate. *g* Where's all the Boris Becker love, huh?
Tennis? OMG you did NOT just say Tennis is a more interesting sport than football. Football at least has hot bodies in tight pants! What the heck? Tennis? I would rather watch CURLING than Tennis!
(Ok, yes, I actually did enjoy watching curling on the Canadian channel during the last winter Olympics...)
haha I'm with Eimi. I would definetley take curling over tennis anyday:)
My favourite curling moment from the last olympics was actually during a mens hockey game. The Latvian fans were holding signs telling the Canadian players to "Go Curl".
*dies* I love Canada and our curling. ;)
Although my favourite tv sport to watch (even MORE than hockey! *gasp!*) is professional ping-pong. Seriously. Those guys are frigging HARD CORE.
That, and I like watching the kayaking.
oh, come now, curling? the floor sweeping game? I mean, who comes up with these games?
Now, ice hockey, that's something!
Ice hockey isn't bad. I like ice hockey. I always meant to get over to a Seattle Thunderbirds game, or a Spokane Chiefs game (they're minor league), or up to BC for a Canuks game. Thats one I'll watch during the Olympics.
Table tennis, yeah, they're hardcore, but is it really all that interesting to watch for a long time? And Kayaking just sounds like watching NASCAR which I would rather take a gun to my head that watch. Kayaking would be fun to do thought.... Or a marathon. Why would you want to watch a marathon on TV?
Now, bobsleding is fun to watch. I enjoy bobsledding and luge (I don't know how to spell that one...)... You never know when someone will take a nasty tumble!
LOL! Yes... I remember now! There IS something I find as boring as football! Nascar! Which is a problem since I live in Alabama, where football and Nascar are like, the two most popular things EVER. :p
I will admit that tennis is less exciting now than it was back in the days when the MacEnroe brothers were playing. And Jimmy Connors. And back when Agassi was a rebel! Man, they were FUN! :D Back when it was skill and speed and placement instead of thwacking the ball as hard as you can.
Hockey, on the other hand.... mmmmm. I have a weakness for college hockey. Go Maine Black Bears! Hockey is an awesome to watch. Hockey is what football should be. :D
*decides to stick with real, proper football and wanders off to study the draw for Euro 2008*
My boyfriend is a HUGE Steelers fan so he had been celebrating for a while now. I believe it was his birthday actually when the Steelers won their game and he found out they were going to the SuperBowl. Now, I honestly really don't know ANYTHING about football. I'm really in baseball though so that is another story.
Anyways, I voted for the Steelers because my boyfriend would have a heartattack if I didn't.
There wasn't a "I haven't paid attention, didn't even know who was playing, so therfore I don't know/care who wins" :P So I voted for the "hell froze over" one hehe
Ahem... Sunrose... As I told Paula, all "I don't care votes" fall under the "I have to say the Seahawks or Eimi might use her evil plotting skills against me...." option...
Poor Eimi... what would you have done if you met me a few years ago when I didn't know which sport the Superbowl even was? :p
*petpet*
8)
I would have welcomed you to planet Earth with open arms and sloppy kisses...
Yay the Steelers won! my boyfriend will be happy until next season starts! :D As I said, I really dont' know anything else about football but sorry Eimi.
The hawks were robbed, those refs were making horrible calls.
OMG! GREY'S ANATOMY WAS AWESOME!!!
(Hey, I had to watch the Postgame to actually get to Grey's Anatomy, so that TOTALLY belongs in this thread! :D)
I was unimpressed by grasp on the english language evidenced by the people speaking at the post game. :p Can we get them some workbooks?
*runs away from the rotten vegetables*
Actually I missed the last three minutes of the game since I had to leave for work. And yes Cali, I think the refs were making horrible calls. That first touchdown that they called back was TOTALLY a touchdown. But, who knows if it would have made a difference, really. It might have swung the momentum in the Hawks favor. Still the Steelers really had a lot more riding on the game then the Seahawks did. I mean, Jermome Bettis was retiring, it was his hometown, the Steelers stadium is only a four hour drive away so it was their territory... The Hawks played really well though. It wasn't a walk over. We got two interceptions, a couple sacks, totally shut down two of their star players, and they were right up in there until the Steelers got that interception. *shrugs* The fact that they went at ALL is enough for me!
Speaking of refereeing, Cali... If you ever watch Sumo, you will notice that the referee has a small sword in his belt when he's officiating. Traditionally, the referee had to be so honest and sure of every call he made that if he were to be found in the wrong either by making a bad call or by being dishonest, he was expected to be willing to take that sword out and commit suicide right there on the DOHYO.... Do you think something like that could work in professional football?
I want that to happen with not just professional football, but with college football too. USC would've tied with Texas if the stupid refs had given them their touchdown. And THEN they could've gone into overtime and who knows what would've happened...
Nah, USC still would have lost...
:violent1:
just kidding Dana! Don't hurt me! :notworthy:
Go TROJANS! (and Cougars...)

Now that's just cool! 8)
Eimi, there was no "If it isnt the Cowboys, I don't care". Does that mean I can join Bree in the plotted against category? heheheh I rooted for the Steelers, although it was a pretty evenly matched game. Penalties and Referees - the great equalizers.
And Bree, I sooooo totally agree with you about hockey. Hockey is what football SHOULd BE. although I love them both...
go Red Wings!!
sorry I didn't answer this earlier, I love sports.
I've never actually watched a hockey game live. I've always wanted to though. I always meant to go up to BC for a Canuk's game, or even Seattle, Spokane or Tacoma's minor leagues. But really I only watch hockey on the Olympics.
I give you leave to like the Cowboys ONLY because Drew Bledsoe is the QB there now. He was a Washington State Cougar!
And BTW, Rylie... I am very much a WAZZU Cougar fan. Bring on the APPLES!!!!
