Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr

Aviday's rest day was greeted with relief. She'd been overwhelmed
with studies and with Kobeth getting bigger everyday, it took more
and more work keeping her clean, pulled and fed. So it was with glee
that she sprinted from the weyrling caverns to go find something else
enjoyable to do. She'd dressed for it as well, finding just the
right tunic to show off what was now two visible bumps where before
had been nothing but a flat nothing. She's even needed new trousers!
They were only a single size bigger, but it was better than being just
a stick!
The first person she found was one she'd been wanting to see anyway.
"T'kala!" She lifted a hand and waved wildly at him.
"Avi," the bluerider grinned. "I see you are taking the twins out for
a walk?" He teased with a glance at her chest.
She inhaled, putting her hands on her slim hips to thrust out the
meager display. "Yes, yes I am! Aren't they awesome? My mama says
they'll probably always be be small so some men won't want me, but I
don't care about that. I just am happy I finally got 'em!" She turned
side to side, showing them off. "Riding leathers'll cover them up,
but can't have everything I guess. "
"There are plenty of men out there who don't mind small breasts, you
know, not everyone is into...." He made gestures to his own chests
with a look of nausea. "Don't even say the word 'jiggle' or I may
throw up."
Her grin spread wickedly. "Jiggle. Jiggle jiggle." She bounced
pointedly, but her small mounds barely bounced in response, secure
in her brand new breast band. "Well, you know mama and how she is.
Bouncing and _jiggling_ is what she does every day. "
T'kala visibly shuddered. "Different topic. Kobeth is looking larger
and more beautiful every day. It will be graduation and time for her
first flight soon, yeah?"
"You really need to see jiggles as a good thing. Who knows, she
might snatch you up as a moth and jiggle all over your person." That
brought a snicker. "A few more months. I'm really not thinking that
far ahead. My brain is being stuffed with so much...stuff that I'm
just looking at what's going on right now." Her nose wrinkled at the
thought of a mating flight. After heading her mother go on and on
about them, they held absolutely no allure for her like they did for
other weyrlings.
"It is a lot, especially with the idea of going into a full Wing
looming at the end of it." He figured there was no need to harp on
mating flights, he was sure that the Weyrling staff had covered that
multiple times over.
"Yeah, but I'm excited about that. I want to be the best greenrider
in my wing, " she declared. "And the fastest. Hey, maybe I can be in
your wing and we can fly together! That way we can watch out for each
other and stuff!"
"Maybe," he said, "I'm not sure what's going to happen to our Wing.
There's been a lot of turnover with the Wingleader leaving for Barrier
Lake and then several of the River Bluff people transferred out as
well."
"They can fill it with me!" She grinned. "Just you wait. I'm gonna
show everyone how awesome we are in the air." She then paused and
looked at T'kala, her eyes turning serious. "Is...is Blooding really
as bad as they say it is?"
"It doesn't have to be," T'kala said cautiously, not wanting to
downplay how important the first Blooding was and send Aviday in
overconfident. "Not everyone comes out scored or bleeding or anything.
If you watch yourself and follow the lessons you've been taught, it's
possible to come out unscathed."
"What was it like for you? We're you scared? One of the weyrlings
cries everytime it's mentioned. He's terrified. "
T'kala's eyes unfocused a bit as he thought back on the memory. "It
was hot and sweaty, that's what sticks out to me the most, sweat
running down my neck. And my heartbeat, I coudn't hear a thing for the
sound of my pulse hammering in my ears. There's just so much
adrenaline."
"See, I think it's going to be exciting. I mean, I get that it's
dangerous and stuff, but I just want to be up there! Riding Kobeth is
just perfect right now and she's already fast. I think we're going to
be perfect. "
"Just remember, flying Thread isn't like the thrill you experience now
when it's just you and Kobeth in the skies. It's much more frenzied
and fast-paced." T'kala worried that she would go into her first
Threadfall and not take it seriously enough.
"Yup. We practice for all that. " She waved aside his concern. "I
practice alot. I don't miss throws anymore and I've only missed
catching bags a few times. " Confidence gleamed now in her eyes. "I
can't wait!"
T'kala could see that she wasn't to be dissuaded, and he only hoped
that she wasn't one that would have to learn the hard way. "That is
good to hear. I'm proud of you, squirt," he nudged her.
Aviday beamed up at him, chin high and looking happier than she had
since her arrival at Dolpins Cove. Her weyrlinghood had done much to
improve her self-esteem and confidence, and it showed. "I only hope I
can make D'ale and K'ale proud too. I told them I'd be the best and I
will be."
