Description: Tsogath rises again!
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 3, day 23 of Turn 9
A'vel's customary morning routine on non-Fall days was to eat
breakfast and then go to the bathing pools. Tsogath was sound asleep
this morning when A'vel checked on her, and she looked beautiful in
the morning light, so he decided to let her rest, and instead walked
the long way down to the Dining Cavern. By the time he got there he'd
worked up a healthy appetite, so he ate a big meal and then headed to
bathe.
He'd just stripped down and settled into the water to get clean, when
he felt Tsogath wake up. Her mind was churning and restless, and a
surge of tension-lust-want smacked right into him, causing a
thoroughly predictable side effect.
}:I feed!:{ she snarled, and bugled in the weyrbowl before diving to
the feeding pens.
He groaned, pulling himself out the water and grabbing his clothes. He
didn't want to go to the flight cots, he wanted to finish bathing and
sleep and not have to participate in yet another mating flight... He'd
survived the last two but he still didn't *like* these. But liking
didn't matter...he had to go tend to her.
As he walked to the feeding pens he wondered who he'd see there.
Hopefully not the Weyrleader. Hopefully some nice young men closer to
his own age...
When Dagreth informed T'kala that he was about to fly after a green,
and that green was Tsogath, the bluerider was more than happy to drop
what he was doing and head to the flight rooms. T'kala was already
wanting something more to happen between him and A'vel, and what
better way than a flight, he thought? The bluerider slipped into the
room, automatically sweeping the area with his eyes to see who his
competition was....
R'nar stood as far away from A'vel as was possible in the small flight
room. The young bronzerider was practically plastered to the wall.
Flying a male greenrider was practically inevitable, R'nar had already
come to terms with that, but for that male greenrider to be his _best_
friend was another thing entirely. **Iorath why are you doing this to
me?**
}:She is beautiful,:{ the young bronze sighed, }:and I must catch her.:{
R'nar's stomach churned.
The door bumped open again and F'lin hurried in, straightening his
tunic and his hair mussed from sleep. He gave A'vel a sheepish smile
as he found a place on the other side of the room. In his mind, all he
saw was Tsogath, shining green in the morning sun.
Tsogath stared at the males who were arriving. A fine assortment. Here
were blues, browns, and bronzes here to watch her. Some she knew well.
Some were familiar from being in her wing. Some were relative
strangers since they'd only been here a short time. Some were even
bronzes who were ranked. She blooded the wherry she caught and then
sprung into the sky to fly free and dare them to catch her, letting
out a shrilling scream as she did.
Dagreth was the first male in the sky, using his speed as a blue dragon
to put him ahead of the suitor-pack.
**Sneaky-blues.** Iorath-R'nar thought with a snarl as he followed as
quickly as possible.
Seneth leaped after Tsogath, using his wide wings to foul the path of
brown dragon beside him. Dagreth was ahead, and beyond that-- his prize!
If she flew a little higher and a little longer, he'd be able to catch up.
A dozing Rogueth had taken heed of the green's first call and had lifted
his head to watch her, then after some hesitation had gone down to wait
for her to rise. Now he flung himself into the sky slightly after the
other males. Without his ride available, K'ran arrived as the last
chasing rider in the flight room.
Over the next few minutes, Tsogath did her best to run the males a
mighty chase. She swept along the coast, using the warm air over the
sands to boost her higher into the air, so that she could drag it out.
The males followed behind her and she judged them as she saw them fly.
After going far for a bit, she began to add more acrobatics to wean out
the suitors. Tsogath dipped down to wend through the trees. That
knocked off some. A bronze dropped. Then two browns and a blue. Her
wings were aching all-too-soon and she left the trees to return to high
flight, this time seeking the clouds.
There was Falirath, an older blue from the wing. She'd seen him twist
and turn to defeat tangles of fallen Thread. There was Dagreth too, who
she remembered spending time with her. Among the bronzes, there was
young and strong Iorath who she knew from weyrlinghood. Two
less-familiar bronzes from River Bluff, Seneth and Rogueth. Which of
them would she choose?
Seneth gambled and dipped his wings towards Tsogath. She'd flown far
for a young green, and he wanted to catch her and end the chase. His
flight path angled fast toward her in an effort to chase her even
higher, where he could outfly the others and catch her between one
cloud and the next.
Tsogath responded to Seneth's gambit by going upwards as he'd hoped.
She ducked into one cloud and stayed there for a moment, hovering. A
few went past her, seeking her elsewhere. She darted out and went
forward, aiming to evade a few more, but was surprised by coming out
very close to another dragon...
Iorath crowed his victory as he snatched Tsogath up. Finally! He
possessively twined necks with her and steered her aware from the pack
of disappointed males.
On the ground, R'nar followed the instincts of his dragon as he grabbed
A'vel. Right now it didn't matter that this greenrider was a man, and it
didn't even matter that this greenrider was probably his best friend.
All that mattered was satiating the need that Iorath and Tsogath had
created.
