Description: Corowal calls in Westyn to help him choose gifts for his children.
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 12, day 16 of Turn 8
"Thank you for coming, Trader Westyn," Corowal greeted when the man was led to his office. He had asked to meet him. "Please take a seat," his smile was warm and welcoming.
"Lord Corowal," he inclined his head respectfully. He had done business with Corowal before, and he was use to dealing with all kinds of people in his line of work. "I trust all is well with the family?" He said, making small talk.
"All is well, except Lady Felyna," Corowal replied. Her forced bedrest was public knowledge anyway. He gestured the trader to take a seat. "How about your family? You had children, right?"
Westyn had heard about Lady Felyna, but since he had lost his own wife he tried hard to avoid any subjects that were close to it. "Yes, I do, four, in fact. Three girls and a boy. They are probably terrorizing their current nanny as we speak. I can't seem to keep a permanent one."
"It's a hard to find a good person they bond with," Corowal said with sympathy. He had luck with Erassa, although it had helped that she had started as fostermother before Ofelia's death. "Well, to business. As you know the Turnover is approaching and it's time to start organizing all those gifts to them."
"Of course," Westyn reached into the breast pocket of his vest and withdrew a small pad of paper and a writing utensil. "Any specifics in mind this Turn?"
"Well, that's the problem, the children already have pretty much everything. Felyna is easy, I'll give her jewelry. But for the children, I welcome tips."
"Could you tell me some details about your children? Anything might help." Westyn asked.
"Well, Corofel is currently fostered in the Amber Hills Hold, he's an active boy who likes outdoors and runnerbeats. Ofewal is apprenticed to Harper Hall, he likes to read. Corolia is a little lady, Felcoron is rather typical young boy and Wallia is, well, Wallia. Blind but strongwilled. Hard to tell what she likes yet but to smack her brothers with her cane." Corowal smiled when he described his children.
Westyn took note of the details on his paper, "So maybe a new saddle for Corofel, a couple of new books and stationary for Ofewal, a new mirror and brush set for Corolia....." He trailed off as he considered the last two names on his list, Felcoron and Wallia. "What about a pouch and slingshot for Felcoron, and a feline kitten for Wallia?" The animal would at least be something that Wallia could touch, hear, and enjoy.
"I don't think Corofel needs a new saddle," Corowal replied bit hesitantly. "Perhaps riding boots? He's in an age where they grow up fast. And no, no feline kitten, please," just the thought of his children and animal made him wince. "The other ideas are good ones."
"Boots are fine, I'll just need his size, and do you have any suggestions for Wallia?" He didn't want to get her something senseless like paints or books when she couldn't see them.
"I have to ask the size from Amber Hills Hold," Corowal replied to the first part and then paused to give Wallia some thought. "How about stuffed feline?"
"A stuffed feline it is," Westyn agreed. "Well, I can get started on all of this while you get the size for Corofel."
"Thank you. We can meet later after I get a message back from Amber Hills Hold," Corowal said.
"Absolutely," Westyn slipped the pad of paper and pencil back into his vest pocket. "Is there anything else?"
"Not right now," Corowal replied. Oh, he still had L'cor, Oria and the baby as well as Dinalee to consider, but those he would deal more discreetly. There was also his kin in Coral Bay Hold, which he planned to take care with his old contacts in Coral Bay.
