Physical Description of Persona:
A'kades has handome features. He has a broad nose and strong chin and jawline that make him very good at giving a stern expression. His skin is medium brown, and his eyes are amber. His hair is very short and naturally curly, and is black liberally streaked with silver.

He stands about 5’10 and is solidly muscled from decades of being a rider. He has Threadscore scars on his right shoulder and back, and his cheek and forehead around his right eye has char-burn scars.

Emotional Description of Persona:
The best word to describe A’kades is meticulous. He likes everything to be done perfectly, at the right time, and everything to be in the right place. His other positive traits include total honesty, a powerful work ethic, and the refusal to ask people to do something that he won't do himself. If A’kades suggests something, you can be sure it’s been well thought out.

In his youth, he found himself very impatient with anyone who couldn’t keep up with him. His reliability and love of structure meant that he was a solid choice for rank and responsibility, but he was often viewed by his subordinates as a strict, hidebound martinet with impossible standards of discipline. He excelled at planning strategies and overseeing them efficiently. As he has gotten older, he has become more compassionate and less judgmental, better able to motivate people by learning how relating to them.

A’kades might have a stuffy reputation, but he likes to relax by practicing his craft or by socializing with others. It can be a surprise to people when they get invited to his weyr to play a rowdy game of dragonpoker and drink.

History of Persona:
A'kades is the child of a Master Tanner and his wife. He was born at the Tanner Hall, the youngest child of four, and was often overlooked in favor of his more boisterous siblings. There was never any question that he would do anything other than become a Tanner and he was officially apprenticed on his 12th birthingday. The Master of Apprentices was harder on him than on anyone else to dispel any rumors of favoritism. This led to him feeling resentful and redoubling his efforts. After being promoted to journeyman, he took posting to Garnet Valley Hold, wanting to get out from under his family's eye.

One day it turned out that a Search dragon was greatly interested in him. He didn’t believe anything would come of it, but accepted the offer anyway. Imagine his surprise when he proceeded to Impress at his very first Hatching to bronze Volaith. He was thoroughly unprepared for weyrlinghood, but his fierce drive and perfectionism meant that by the time they graduated they were well-regarded by their superiors.

A’kades led a solid if uneventful career for many Turns until he became promoted to wingsecond. In the laid-back time before Thread, his strictness chafed on many. But when Threadfall returned, none could deny the effectiveness of his methods. He continued to serve in a fighting wing until they was badly wounded in early turn 7. Since then he and his dragon have been serving as weyrling assistants. Though Volaith has been cleared to fly an active Fall again, he’s found he enjoys the work and has made it permanent.

During the end of the seventh Turn of Fall, A'kades developed a romantic relationship with Lenala, the Weyrwoman's Second. There were high periods, like when Volaith won one of Vilarth's flights and they had a healthy clutch. There were low periods, like when she got pregnant with their child and then miscarried. The relationship ended with her death when River Bluff Weyr collapsed.

He briefly chose to transfer to Dragonsfall to fly over both former River Bluff territory and over the Opal Cove region he once called home. But when his son Vatirel Impressed at Dolphin Cove Weyr, and the Weyrsecond position there came open, he decided to apply for it and was chosen.

Kadira, 17, Senior Apprentice Healer, Dragonsfall Weyr (daughter)
Jadirel, 18, Weyrbrat (son)

Dragon's Name: Volaith
Dragon's Age: 27
Dragon's Colour: Bronze
Description of Dragon:
Volaith is a large and hulking bronze dragon. A barrel-chest, thick limbs and tail, and slightly-too-short but exceptionally broad wings make him extremely imposing. When at rest Volaith is never still, unnecessary and random movements consistently disturbing his repose. His color is a bright burnished bronze, and a long threadscore scar cuts down his right side and hindlimb.

Volaith is quite stubborn and often insists on doing things his way. He easily gets bored and frequently wants attention - from flits, his rider, lady dragons, anything he can get. Prideful, he has supreme confidence in his own abilities and is liable to bristle if anyone disparages them. He likes to show off; afterall, he has to display his superiority to all of the other bronzes out there, doesn't he? Drills and Threadfall are where Volaith shines. At those times he becomes a completely focused dragon and fulfills his full potential. The rest of the time, though, he is selfish, flirting, and not very serious.
