Name: Qorri
Age: 42
Birthday: m4 d8
Rank: Hold Resident
Location: Green Valley Hold

Crayon Awards: Most Intriguing Female Persona (August 2011)

Physical Description of Persona:
This female is of average height, standing at 5'1". Her skin is a rich, muddy brown. Her nose is rounded, resembling a button and her face follows suit. Qorri's mouth is very expressive, with full lips that are almost always open. Her eyes are dark brown, but appear black. Perhaps her best feature, Qorri's hair is a rich, shining black. It's very long and she's known for wearing it in braided buns or in other styles that disguise its true length. Her build is also quite average, but she is starting to get a bit thicker in the middle. Solid is the best way to describe her.

She prefers to wear dresses with aprons or can sometimes be seen in skirts and tunics. Often, these are a combination of Weyr colors, but Qorri does have a few garments for proper occasions that are a bit more formal. Her footwear is comfortable, often a pair of simple leather slippers.

Emotional Description of Persona:
A very shrewd woman, she is certainly not afraid of hard work. Her plain aspect has caused her to rely on her other talents-those of capability and management-to make her way in the world. Fair, but hardnosed, she does not shirk and will not allow anyone else to. She'll work herself into the ground before she will admit defeat. Qorri does not waste and she has high expectations of others.

Not afraid to point out when something is wrong, she is also a bit of a harridan. For one so young, it seems odd, but she is self possessed and in control until her temper flares. Famous for her harangues, she is a force to be reckoned with if someone crosses her deliberately. On the other side of the coin, she adores children and is devoted to the candidates and foster children she sometimes takes under her wing. She takes her duties seriously and is dependable to the extreme.

History of Persona:
Her life began at Marchos Hold in the southwest as the middle child in a family of five. Her father was a holder and her mother worked as a laundress. Like most hold children, she went to her harper lessons, then completed her chores after. Understanding the concept of everyone working together to the betterment of the whole, Qorri never complained. Except when she saw injustice.

As she became older, it was clear her marriage prospects were slim. She had no Blood and her parents weren't high ranking crafters. Besides, her older sister was the pretty one. Taking matters into her own hands, she struck a bargain with a journeyman woodcrafter working at the Hold. If he would marry her and let her travel with him, she would be faithful and make sure all the domestic tasks were done. He being a bit old and seeing the value in a helpmate, he agreed.

So she left Marchos after some time and they moved around the South. She enjoyed seeing the different places, focusing on being a support to her husband's career. She made the best of it.

When she was 30 turns old, they made a trip to Dolphin Cove Weyr. It was the first time she'd ever been in a Weyr, despite her age. Her husband became ill, however, and was unable to move on. Qorri stayed to watch over him. Two months later, he passed away, the healers saying it was some sort of wasting disease.

Alone, not knowing where else to go, she took a job as a Lower Caverns woman. Doing what she did best those many turns, she soon attracted attention. And when the old Headwoman stepped down, she found herself in her place. And so she served for many turns until N'vanik became Weyrleader. Recently she disagreed with the way he interfered with her duties and she resigned. So now Qorri will be going back to Hold life. They needed people to work and she was no stranger to that.
